hi I just received 2 colocasia esculenta (the regular, green leaved huge monster elephant ear you see in garden centers in bulb packages in spring). I want to grow it indoors year round, I know to use a huge pot. I have a large east facing window it gets full morning sun till noon hour. house temps are 72-85f year round. is this ok light for it to grow humongous? how much water should I give it? keep it moist? let the top of the soil dry between waterings?

they grow big and need a lot of water. I collect alocasia and colocasia and it is in my thread at the biginners landscaping and the thread "BELLES HAVEN GARDEN 2013"

I tried this when I lived in OH and it didn't go well, spider mites galore, but I don't think I had enough sun, certainly not an all-morning window. Storing the dormant bulb is much easier, IMO/E. If you have the time and patience, SM's can be controlled (should they show up) by gently wiping the leaves, top and bottom, with a cotton ball damp (not dripping) with diluted rubbing alcohol. That might be enough light, not terribly familiar with growing anything as far north.
