I have had this shamrock plant for about 37 years. Last year I divided it and replanted it into 2 larger pots from 1 much smaller pot. It grew quickly and was beautiful all summer. In the fall, it started to wilt, leaves browning and curling up and then went flat. I cut it back and it came back nicely, but soon started the wilting again. I don't see any flies or bugs. Any ideas?
What is happening to my Shamrock?
I am having the same problem with my shamrock plant of 28 years. Looking for help too. This plant was given to me by my son when he was about 5 years old for Mother's Day. I divided it last year and gave my son, who is now 33, some. His is doing fine. Help.
I do not know much about shamrocks except that they like lots of water! In the picture I am seeing alot of foliar leaf tip burn.
I do not think that is is a disease that I can think of...though you do mention a wilt but I only see the browning of the leaf tips though the overall plant appears to have turgor.
My guess is a problem with water, salt, or fetilizer. Could the plant have been over fertilized? Either by application or using a potting soil when transplanted with fertilizer in it? How is the drainage in the new pot? I know some pots have built in reservoirs where water is allowed to collect at the base and then be reabsorbed up into the pot. Water needs to be able to flow out the bottom of pots and allowed to drain away as that water often contains salts and other contaminates that can build up and cause leaf burn. If you have a suacer under a pot its good to not let water accumulate there but to drian it.
Was the plant exposed to a lot of sunlight and the soil was allowed to dry out recently?
