what bug?

what is this bug on my Sunflowers. Is it doing any harm? I live in florida.

Can you elaborate with the actual size of the bug as one part of me thinks these are greenfly and another I think some other sucking aphid but real size would help.

For now, I would go out and with say soft rubber gloves (if your squeamish) and squash these bugs Gently between finger and thumb, OR give a sharp blast with the garden hose when watering, lady birds would love a feast on those.
There will be spray's you can buy from garden /DIY stores but to be honest I try Never to use chemicals unless I've tried every other way, dish water soap, Vinager weak mixed with water, are all things to try if you don't like chemicals, plus, you need to know what bug you have to use the right chemical.
Hope someone can come in site and help better than I can looking at the picture as the size of bug is quite scarey ha, ha, ha,

They are just slighty smaller then a lady bug.At first that is what i thought they were ,just a different color.

Is that a super macro shot? Probably aphids, I usually just squish them while I'm wearing gloves

I see one with distinct antennae and legs. Scale will not have these when they are adults.
On the other hand, perhaps you have 2 bugs here:
The scale are more or less round, and do not show legs or antennae. They do not move around on the plant.
The one with legs etc may be something different. Similar color, but totally different bug.
There are many species of Aphid, and that is one possibility.

I agree with the easy solutions suggested above:
Hand removal.
Spray with a hose.
Spray with a less toxic material like insecticidal soap.

Take a look at this link...it is hard to see the beetles in detail, but the shape, size and body coloration/markings look close to Euphoira inda....Sunflower beetle/Bumble flower beetle

Looking closer at your picture, I am sure moonhowl is right.
I can see the body style that makes those a beetle.

Knock a few into a clear glass container with a lid and take to garden store, local government officer or even a park / golf club garder dept, they should be able to give an answer then you can take proper action and they will also give an instant answer too.
