Ladies it is spring time for most of us, show us what you have blooming!
A prickly pear bloom, and a rose.
She's about to... 69! Spring has sprung!
I'm here
Thanks LK:
We're still enjoying "spring" temps. WEather says temp is 59 but feels like 54. I tell ya, cold and wet is not my favorite. BUT I am enjoying spring as long as it lasts. :)
I'm not big on hot and humid either. Ha hah haha... That takes care of most of the year, doesn't it?!
Where do you recommend mild weather for me to retire to?
I think if I had the money, I would like to try Hawaii?
http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USHI0026
The coast of Texas , Up around Rockport . Cheap wages , housing ,food .Hotter than Hades in summer but didn't have a freeze this last winter .Breese from the gulf or a fan on the porch is nice in summer , cools down another 15°.
Was you one of those attorneys with big , sharp teeth ?In what area? Nice to get out of the rat race , huh . I tradad in my ingrown toenails , pointy toe heels for grubby feet and Crocs . Love being a heathen .
Ha ha ha - mmm, well I defended Kmart in litigation here in NC as well as Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski resorts, among other defendants who were either self-insured or had a lot to lose. I don't know if anybody thought my teeth were that pointy. I have made old ladies and truck drivers cry, just alike. Ain't proud to say it, just sayin.'
Thanks for the thoughts on climate. Court and I are looking at Montana but only because they have some really cool jobs for me when I graduate.
Awwwww, and you look so sweet natured .Sometimes people get fed up with what the job requires . I was told about the big teeth pertaining to a divorce attorney several years ago and haven't ever forgotten the reference. LOL
Montana is wonderful in the summer but can have brutal winters . Whatcha graduating from ? I love it when someone continues schooling .

Well thanks. :)
I think I am sweet natured, but I can get crabby. Never mean, just crabby. Well maybe that's not true either. ANyway. I got tired onk.f being mean for a living. When I made that old lady cry at a mediation (she was 72 but SHE was mean) my boss was so proud. I wasn't being mean. She just didn't like when I told her she was going to lose at trial (among other things) and she cried because she was so mad, I think. All I could think of was my nana spinning in her grave. heh.
O well - my latest degree will be a master's degree in Natural Resources. I would like to use my law degree together with it somehow, but I don't want to go back into litigation. My preference for native plants comes out of - or I should say has led me to my interest in environmental restoration projects and conservation. So I am attracted to a lot of different kinds of work, but I have had my eye on an ongoing project in MT and surrounding states/Canadian provinces. It's prairie restoration where they have reintroduced bison and elk. It's got a hold of my imagination, and I feel drawn to it somehow. Of course, I'm expecting I will have to travel to find a super cool job because I'm just plain old tired of not finding what I'm looking for right here down the street somewhere.
This last class was a finance class - essentially an economics class talking about trees instead of widgets. Basically the value of natural resources and how to do cost benefits and discounted cash flows and crazy stuff with spreadsheets. This semester I also took for fun: fire science, silviculture, and forest ecology. :D
The finance class was the last one I needed to graduate, so I'm doing a happy dance. Though I still have work to do (in fact to upload tonight!) so I'd better get.
Avoiding it though. I'm good at that. Have a good night!
Here is spring in Missouri!!! rofl......
I can hardly handle winters here let alone in MT, but I am sure it is beautiful. I loved Colorado when I lived there, but Linda Kay I am with you Hawaii is my favorite place I have ever been. Use to travel alot and that was my favorite destenation spring summer fall or winter.....
Amanda , bet the forest service could use your talent . Or EPA . You rock !
sheeee - you guys are killin me. :D
Happ - looks like the end of the Earth!!!
Digger - I just uploaded my very last assignment. Heh.
I do have an exam next week sometime, but it's all multiple choice and will be pretty much a compilation of Midterms 1 and 2 and I guess stuff since then well anyway - it's easy memorization stuff. No sweat. I got my work done before noon, did some adminstrative stuff and NOW going to put this machine down for a while. Maybe a day or a week. Nah.
Well the sun finally came out and it's supposed to get to 71 today. I'll believe it when I feel it (and I ain't feelin' it!).
Enjoy your friday.

It's still cloudy and windy and cold here .
Amanda (((((hugs)))))) so excited for you to be done with your exams. More time for you!
Joyce, that is a wonderful photo and I love it.
Fare/Ray I will always be praying for you both..
LK, I still have brug bottoms to send you....Digger, I hope the sun shines for you tommorrow!
My girlfriend was going to spend weekend . She cancelled , had a fender bender . My favorite humane society was having the annual flea market tomorrow , They emailed "cancelled due to weather " Guess I'll have to be bored going with DH to a coin show . A coin is a coin , everyone has the same thing , same price .Nuts , even the snack bar isn't fit to eat .
I love the way you all answer each other individually .You all been together a long time . Hugs
well ,Crystal, these gals are tighter than a bug in a rug, but you are in this circle.. so just know that. OK? I mostly read, and address everyone in general, but get excited when someone comes on that has been gone a bit.. and ya know, you are really all the real friends I have, cept my sister and my sis in laws, and I don't talk to them as often as I chat in here..speaking of coins, I sold an 8 year AA coin I earned in the ebay store for my sisters cancer fund. I was surprised.
Debra, I agree, we are all "SISTER'S" here. I talk with more friends here than I do with family and friends in the neighborhood! Thanks to all of you for being here!
Debra, how is your Sister doing?
8 year ? Great . My son is somewhere about 20 years and cold turkey . My DH is going on four days C T . Never tried before , hope it works .
Sally
Sally!!! :D
I wish I knew anything about coins. Mom collected for years, but my grandfather had QUITE the collection. I used to save my pennies every year for him in the same can. I'd give him the can and he'd give it back after Christmas. He went thru every penny. You never know when a priceless coin will pass thru your hands! After my mammy passed, I was coming home after being there ( in PA with her and after she was gone) for 4 or 5 months. I'd quit my job to be there. I tried to clear out the house (unsuccessfully) and sold some stuff on ebay for grocery money. I found part of my grandfather's collection (blah blah blah story) and brought home and sold a few that helped ease the unemployed transition. shhhh. someone might hear.
Yay! Yes Debra and LK and eva body - almost finished but I swear to _________ that after this long multiple guess exam this week I will NEVER take another exam. God help me if I have to take a bar exam somewhere. But I have passed 2 so I guess if I had to . . ...
Sun's peeking out, a little Nor' east breeze and very pretty.
One of the dogs has been sick for the last day or so. Every spring I think she eats rabbit turds or something. Same thing, so I'm expending all my good energy on the dog today. Woke up to the vomiting sound (I'm sorry girls) but that's no way to wake up. I wondered what if anything I could do to make her feel better. When I was a kid mom had us rub her feet/back/whatever. She'd bought me the a guide to the Chinese pressure points, so I gave Snoopy accupressure this morning. :D
She seems so much better!!! h ahha ha .. Yeah I'm crazy so?
And I made her chicken broth with the bones from a rotisserie I was saving to feed to the crow that we rehabbed a few years ago. (yeah, so?).
So that's it! We're broke till payday, but seems like we're happy.
Have a nice weekend.
xox
p.s. was trying to find a goofy picture of us together but here's Court with Rita. :D
Sure hope Smoopy is feeling better soon. I agree, that is not a sound you like to wake up to.
Wow, Rita is huge! How old is she?
Rita's probably pushing 9 years old. That pic was a couple of years ago, so she's even bigger now.
She likes to soak in the bathtub. A standard size bath, she lays diagonally and her nose touching one corner her tail will be leaning up against the tub a few inches up. So she's a good length, about 10 lbs.
And really mild mannered. But she is a wild animal and I respect her, so I don't pick her up or dress her in barbie clothes or anything. :D
Court looks familar . Guess he has one of those faces . I have given a piece of Rolaid to my dogs in the past . I crush it up with water and give it by spoon . 10 pound dog , up to half a pill . My wire haired dotsie started that way and when nothing helped , had exploritory , bad news , so didn't wake him up , I asked the vet to let him go over the rainbo bridge . Sad , but no pain and he would have thanked me . Just saying so everyone knows that throwing up can be a bad sign . symptoms came on sudden , didn't show any sign of sickness before . We loved that dog , his name was Digger . That's where I got the name , in memory of him .
Ohh, thanks for sharing. Well yes, Snoopy has always had a sour stomach and just in the last year or so have I gotten it really completely under control with no treats and very strict diet monitoring. So just about anything could set it off. She's never been diagnosed with pancreatic anything, though I know that's something to be aware of.
She's a sweet old dog of 13+/- (?!) but still has vim and vigor of a 8 year old. hahaha.
She is feeling better today, but I heard her guts juicing this morning a bit so I'm still wary.
Pretty dog! What is the kitties name?
I think that all black kitties have that one-paw-out thing when they are particularly comfy with the world. It's like they are sassing you saying "yeah, I'm hogging up the space, what of it?" I have a black kitty who is a hidey cat and you can tell when she's very much at ease because she slaps that one paw out and you know that all is right with the world at that moment.
That's Jester! He's comfy with the world alright! ;)
Your dog looks sweet . After being gone for six months , my cat won't even stay on the porch and eat if he sees me coming . Has rubbed all over Johnnys leg s while he's in his chair , but me ? No . My renter fed him while we were gone . His mother , who is ferel and wild , will come on the porch to eat and comes when called . Will never tame . After bringing me five ? litters , I finally caught her while pregnant and raised the kits , adopted them out and had her spayed . I raised this kit from her second litter and never thought he would go wild around me . He used to travel back and forth with us to Texas and was used to my sons yard across the street . We stayed there for several years when in Tex. before getting our own place . He never was wild , following me around and sitting at the son's fence while waiting for us to come feed him . I just don't get it .
I had a cat who used to pee on the bed (preferably between my legs while I was asleep) to punish me for going away. Maybe yours will forgive after he feels you have suffered enough. katie
Hmm. That is odd behavior. I'll have to think on that.
When I got the second dog, years and years ago, I read the book, I thought it was called "the life of dogs" but it doesn't look like the one on Amazon. o well. The same author wrote a book about cats, which I didn't care for as much.
Very insightful to behavior as mostly instinctual. Maybe the cat is worried you will trap him like you did his momma?
I have a feral kitten here a neighbor dropped off in October. When someone comes to the door and says "I need help" of course you put out your hands to help, don't you?! She passed this tiny ball of dryer lint to me, kitten with eyes sealed shut. Mmmmm, it's May now. After months of trying to help it heal, an eyeball had to come out. She's very cute, gets along with everybody, but I felt like I failed. I took it hard, but she doesn't seem to mind. Also, that almost $700 would have gone a long way towards fixing what's wrong with my car, which is still wrong. :P
Critters. BAH.
I carried the cat , Smut , in a wire transport crate back and forth for several years , so no trauma there . He won't come up on the porch if the dogs are there , even tho he used to tromp around among them . I need to put the dogs in the house and shut the big door . Maybe I can call him up and just sit in my chair , see if he'll make the first move .
Sister has a black cat named stinky, he was a wild one, but she was patient and now he is her best friend, but runs from me when I go there. Now I took Joanna with me last time , and Stinky took to her right away, but Joanna has a cat named Lincoln. I sure love that Rita, what an amazing critter.
When Duke used to wake me up with that vomiting sound, I knew he has eaten something wrong. My sisters dogs have peed in her bed while she was gone, but she is used to them mis behaving. Sister is taking life one day at a time right now, just like me. She cried and cried when dr told her it was in both of her femurs and spread. But she is still fighting with all her might. She is going to finish up this new round of the double chemo and then take a short break and come here for a week. I will go get her since she has a hard time driving. Prolly will bring Sadie, so she can get used to us again. I am inheriting sadie some day. I do know a gal who has been fighting cancer for ten years, raised a son who is nine, and is still doing chemo. It is not the same kind of cancer, but now it is also spreading like my sisters. I told sister it will be 2 years since she was diagnosed at end of this month. Here she is still fighting.
I sure hope her and I can go on a trip again this year and see some DGrs. ;D
I actually acquired 13 years of clean and dry, but then I slipped with a glass of wine. more like a bottle of maddog . I would like to blame it on my sis in law, but she didn't force me to drink it. I was sick for a week, and since I don't like migraines and puking, I havn't done that again.
Somehow, Amanda, I passed the state insurance test. No one thought I would. I showed them a thing or two!
LK, Paula and Mike are being transferred to San Antone with Boeing in another year. I sure hope their old overwieght Lab Mix makes it until then. Her name is Angel and I know Paula will be devastated when she goes/ she is almost 9 and has had several operations on tumors and cystes and stuff. Last year I had to go over and change the bandages on her feet from the surgerys. I used baby bootie socks to hold them on and keep her from licking.
Funny the things we do for our pets, eh? I always give her a complete massage when I go over there, dogs love that. I know my old Duke loved it up till he left us.
O Debra - you're the sweetest thing.

A.
Sorry to hear about her cancer spreading, still sending lots of prayers that she will beat this too!
Sure hope you can come to Texas, so I can give you both big hugs!
LK, thanks, I just talked to a lady this afternoon as soon as I got off the phone with Sister, and she said her sister had the same thing, lived for 9 years doing chemo, and then she had to give up and she went with God, she said. ( years is a long time to endure chemo and transufsions and stuff, but as a mother, I can understand wanting to see my daughter grow up and become independent and happy before I died. All mine are, but my neice is just a baby 18 yr old working and not even knowing how to cook or clean. *sigh*
I told Sherry she needs to figure out where she wants to go this year and not to wait until it is 120 outside.
That is a long time to go through those treatments. Sure hope I see you both this year.
