Why not?
newly planted ice plant
tree yucca with its first bloom (~ 4 feet tall so far)
Glorious May Blooms
I love all the pics of your cacti!
Stephanie no group of plants has brought me more gardening pleasure and I really don't know why that is. They are like my pets (well sort of).

Is that unknown the one I gave you at the RU?
No, but it could be the same species. Yours hasn't developed any buds yet. I have about a dozen Coryphantha that look similar. It could be another genus, at this point I am totally confused!
Wow, Cheryl, what a glorious garden you have! I just love it!
Very nice, Cheryl! All your hard work the past couple of years is paying off!
Looks great! What mix of potting soil or amendments do you use?
For which plants? For the beds I really don't do anything, they are a mix of whatevery top soil I bought over the years. For the cactus, I mix cactus soil, sand and gravel in both the bed and pots. I don't fertilize anything except the pots for the most part.

Everything looks beautiful Cheryl.
I wish duranta was hardy here, its such a pretty color. I have one plant in a pot that comes in for the winter but never really looks vigorous.

I love these threads. Liking living vicariously through all of you ;-)
I've not had huge successes so far this year in getting blooms, but I take my tiny victories seriously (LOL)
Only have a few to share....
a) Bulbine
b) Coral Bean
c) Salvia 'Victoria Blue'
d) unknown rose
e) honeysuckle
Can't hold a candle you all yours, but they make ME smile
Cheryl, so you buy ready made cactus soil and add the sand and gravel. (Play sand?) Well you have the right combo. They look great.
For the cactus bed I bought cheap topsoil and play sand. The bed is more sand and gravel than it is dirt. For the pots I do mix in cactus soil, sand and usually decomposed granite for the cacti.

Few more. Cilantro is gorgeous, I will have to let more bolt. My bunny tail grass is a favorite, it is a beautiful texture in the garden and as a cut flower. I have several pots of rain lily varieties that were all labeled until the puppy ran off with them. Now I have to wait till each flowers, fun surprises.
My blanket flowers are very happy this year. And my Cowpen daisies are starting their long show.
I love everyone's gardens. you have such great "morning coffee views" ~ that's what i used to do ;-)
i realized yesterday evening why my soil is so much dryer (or one of the reasons) than i had in Benbrook.
I used to walk around and water, drink my coffee, and admire my handywork *smile*
now i can only water in the evenings, and it simply isn't enough. every year i talk about scaling back to 1/2 acre lot size gardening LOL
This first photo is of the pink rose growing on top of my pergola. It is not a full size rose, just slightly larger than an oreo cookie. It's in its prime now and sitting in the swing the air smells like roses. 2 is one of my esperanza just starting up. 3 is German chamomile, my first time to grow it. I found out that here it prefers the shade. 4 is my columbine with 3 blooms now and last is one of my pots of angel wing begonia which I grow outdoors here unless a hard freeze is expected.
Very lovely Marty, especially your pergola with the rose on it.
Thanks Josephine. I had a hard time getting a good shot of the rose. I think maybe if it were in the shade, it would photograph better. In the photo with the esperanza is some white yarrow from Sheila and some Zexmenia from Cheryl. The rosebud-looking things are the giant turks cap blooms. In the foreground is the peach Lantana. Our Lantanas have never looked so good as they have this year!
This pretty little iris was part of a clump I picked up on the curb of a house down my street that the new homeowners were getting rid of. Isn't it pretty??
My self heal has been blooming. I love the dainty little blooms.
The Tennessee Coneflowers are blooming! I love these guys and they are fun to watch throughout the day since they chase the sun.
I'm in love with my Texas Betony. This is the second year it's bloomed and this year it's breathtaking! White Salvia Greggii in the background.
Phlox pilosa (Prairie Phlox) along the driveway. There's one lone blanket flower in there, too!
Not a bloom, but a baby Cowpen Daisy growing in the crack of my driveway. I'll have to relocate it since it's so determined to grow.
Stephanie, you are doing great!!! I love the Texas Betony too the flowers are gorgeous, and such a unique color.
Stephanie, your flowers are awesome. Love the colors. I have baby Cowpen Daisies coming up everywhere. I hate to, but have to harden my heart and pull them. I only need 2-3 plants, and every spring they gift me with billions and trillions of babies! Or at least it seems like that many. LOL!
Carla
Thank you Josephine and Carla for your kind words. I love those Cowpen Daisies! I also only grow just a few each year. I saw some seedlings growing in my neighbor's front yard the other day. Oops!! LOL
Love that Texas Betony/white salvia combination! Your phlox is really pretty too. this strange weather we've had seems to have been good for the flowers even though some things woke up really late for me.
I have more of the White Prickly Poppies blooming I love them. My neighbor found a pink one a couple years ago in my pasture down the road. I didn't know they came in that color. We gotrain today and I hear more coming. I will be interested to see what things look like in the light of day. A soaking rain can really perk things up, I just got drenched. Lol
1lisac---I have many seed crowns on double and single pink poppies. If you will dmail me your mailing address, I will send you some seeds. They will be ready in 2-3 weeks. They self sow, but you can wintersow or transplant seedlings in the spring. If you have one now, you will have many in years to come. Just pull the ones you don't want or transplant them.
As you can see on the double, they are bee magnets too.
