Need help for planting
Do you feel like digging up grass, or would you rather smother it this year, plant in "lazy beds" next year? Sitting potted plants on top of the area being smothered is a way to still use the space this year if interested in that plan.
I agree on getting rid of the grass first as it will be in competition with your tomatoes and such. Grass sucks a lot of water.
I would get rid of the grass first. Then put up some type of barrier. You could use wood, bricks or plastic barrier. That will help keep the grass out of your new bed. You could always do a raised bed.
