I picked up a gooseberry plant on sale a couple of years ago, thinking that more fruit in my yard is always worth trying. I thought these are supposed to be easy and self-pollinating, but I've never gotten or even seen any fruit, although it has definitely grown, and flowers. Any ideas on what the problem might be? I live in Boston, MA. Thanks in advance for any help or ideas!
Why am I not getting gooseberries?
What variety of gooseberry do you have?
Hmm, I've been a bit busy, and have neglected my post. :-) I don't know what variety I have, but I do know it was supposed to be self-pollinating. After asking everyone I come into contact with at nurseries, I'm coming to the conclusion that I should just rip it out and try again....this time replacing it with one purchased from a local nursery, so that I can see that it's bearing fruit before I purchase.
Bummer.
I have an apricot like that. Turns out it is not right for my zone. Handsome tree, but no fruit, never flowers. Does not get cold enough.
