I have to get my list and go around the yard to figure out where to put my new plants. I should do this BEFORE I ask for them! LOL!
BEES...BEES... Those of you whom were gifted bees by Dennis, don't forget them.
I have improvised a way to keep them outside and dry. Since I don't have holes this deep in my bee houses I made these simple fixes. I am going to use the foam insulation, because last time when they were open, bees ate through the paper in the middle. But if you have a pipe small enough for them to be tight in there it would work great.
2013 NC Texas RU, Sunday April 21st, ( Attendance & Food)
wow - mason bees! I think I have enough bees, but one day I will set up a mason house. I have native masons out here now that the area has recovered from the 2010 wipeout. Will they lay eggs in tubes if I get them some?
smockette: I did and they are safe and sound! Thanks so much!!!
I also am so happy with all my new plants. I was gifted with some coleus I didn't ask for...thanks Marty. I didn't plant anything so all my babies took a wagon ride to spend the cold night in the garage
.It was such a niceRU day and so nice to see all. So sorry you couldn't make it Baja.
Love that improvised mason bee home Sheila
Gypsi, I just now saw that you were willing to bring me a cook top. That is an awesome heart you have there. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Marty
Marty, I never heard back and the best solution really was a bigger microwave. I gave away my electric range a couple of years ago and knocked 50 a month off my electric bill with these nifty little drawer size cooktops, keep one out, spare one in the drawer. But they have limits and a roast would be a challenge. Glad they found you a microwave at the hotel.
$50 a month just for an electric stove? Tells me we are not cooking at home nearly enough!
I cook at home daily - food allergies do that. On my induction cooktop I don't notice that I cook at home. My house is all electric, I still have a regular hot water heater, electric, Central a/c, central heat that I don't use since the woodstove went in, but yes, my range was costing me a minimum of $30 a month during my busy season, when I eat out more, and about 50 when I cook at home breakfast and dinner on it. Never mind the oven, use that a couple of times a month, add $20
I am late to the after-party, but I wanted to say how much fun the RU was! It was so good to see old friends and meet some people I'd never met in person. Good company, good food, beautiful plants--how do you beat that? Thanks, everyone, and especially the organizers!
I second that, Pbtx.
Organizers can plan...but without you guys showing up, it would be much fun! Thanks for each person that came, the food, prizes, the helpers, and especially the plants. See everyone in the fall.
