I'll be there, and I'll try and get Richard to come along too. I'll bring napkins and cups.
2013 NC Texas RU, Sunday April 21st, ( Attendance & Food)
I am glad you can make it, Kate.
My daughter will be strict GF for a while, then won't be able to resist a $00.99 loaf of bread (when the GF ones cost $5-6), so I don't think she ever has gotten the gluten all the way out of her system.
But if we bring regular from-a-restaurant cole slaw (not necessarily GF), people will eat it?
Carla, rest easy, we've been contacted by the human rights commission on behalf of all potluck participants everywhere and we WILL be bringing pecan pie.
Glad to hear that the call got through ^_^
LOL
Angel
I am grateful I do not have full blown celiac disease. I can eat pecan pie as long as they haven't started adding carnation milk to the recipe...
I will bring a bean salad ...... & there will be 2 of us coming.
Thank you Cyndy, I will update the top post.
Those of you that are Gluten sensitive should at least bring something that you can eat to the RU, that way you can enjoy eating along with us!! I am bringing Grilled veggies seasoned with canola oil, garlic, & sea salt; and a baked ham.
Josephine, I'm bringing cole slaw.
O.K. Carrie, I will post it.
Been over my head with taxes but I am still coming with a small group of at least 5.
Smockette, Smock, Smockette's Mom, Doris, my SO, Don, Smockette's Aunt, Lana
Possibly two more but not confirmed.
Bringing Rotel Green Beans & will have get other info fr FtW.
:~)
Josephine, I will bring chocolate chip cookies. :)
Add some Cheesy Chicken Alfredo (I like cheese in almost everything), Hashbrown Casserole, & a different kind of Mac & Cheese. That's it for now.
:~)

You are not allowed to NOT bring the sopapilla cheesecake Smockette!
Sheila, I thought I had been replaced by Stephanie! Believe me it has been hard to find some else to bring!!!
:~)
O.K. Everyone, I have updated the post at the top, we have 21 members and 24 guests coming for a total of 45 people.
This is going to be a great R.U. the weather is supposed to be just about perfect and the place looks great. So we can have fun!!!
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The fee is $5.00 to each member, guests don't pay. As you arrive go to the sign in table pay your fee and get your name tag from Sheila,
The tag will have your name and a number which will be your number for the door prize raffle.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Please remember to bring a door prize for every person in your group, so no one is left out of the fun, it is very disappointing to leave someone with nothing. The prizes should be small and suitable for anyone, garden related is good.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
There will be table space assigned to each member with your name on it for your plants. I like to put the plants that I have already traded on line under my table and the ones available for trade on top of the table, that way there is less confusion.
Please label each and every plant you are bringing so people can tell what they are getting, and keep the ones you have already assigned separate from the others.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
NOW FOR THE FOOD
We will have a table for main and side dishes and one for deserts. Please bring serving utensils for your food, it helps to label your utensils so they don't get lost in the shuffle, and please take your food dishes back with you when you leave, we invariably have dishes left that we don't know whose they are.

Let me know if you have questions, also in case you get lost here is our cell# 817-706-9518 the directions to the park are in the top post.

???
Please look on the trade thread for my message about my food. Thanks, Marty
All I am bringing are plastic cups, and a cooktop if Marty needs one.
You're so wonderful, Gypsi!
I am so sorry you couldn't come, I hope you get better soon.
Josephine.
Baja, that's not good! Please take care of yourself, take it easy, and we'll see you in the Fall. Praying for you!!
Waaah, Baja! Please take care of yourself.
Do take it easy BajaBlue, prayers going up. Hope they can correct whatever is wrong and you get your energy back quickly.
As for the aftermath of the RU.....47 people showed up! It was the largest crowd we have had in some time and the most perfect weather I think we have ever had. Hopefully some of the guest will consider joining the wild bunch on Daves!
For those long time members that might remember BlueEyes (Kim) ....she is back in Texas!! Isn't on DG yet, but her mother and she came today!!
It was a wonderful day, but boy am I ever worn out, as Sheila said we had a great crowd, and it was great to see our old friends and meet the new ones.
The food was divine and lots of it, and loads of plants exchanged hands, it was a great day indeed.
I hope all that came from far away got home safe and well, and thank you all for coming, we really appreciate it.
Josephine.
Such a wonderful day!! Great friends, food, weather and plants, plants, plants. Maddy, Austin and my friend, Judy, all had a good time, also.
I had a great time too. I did get my beautiful plants unloaded before leaving very early yesterday for a full day at Scott & White with my mother. Today I am going to admire each and every one! Thank you all, and special thanks to Josephine and Sheila and your helpers, for another wonderful day of visiting and sharing. I most enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and I'm already looking forward to our next get-together in the fall!
I spent a few hours yesterday and Sunday and managed to get most of the plants in the ground before the weather turned uglier today. I had a lot more than I had intended to come home with! Thanks, everyone. I think that this is also the first time that I have come back and didn't need anyone to identify anything.
The monarchs will really enjoy my new patch of swamp milkweed thanks to all of the seedlings that Patrob gave me. :)
I have a front porch full of plants. I got the Flame Acanthus in the ground, and the rest out of the truck and sorted by sun or shade, watered, and I went to work yesterday. Not sure whether to go out and plant now in the cold, or let them wait until tomorrow in the cold, but I don't think I want to put any in the greenhouse or I'll be back to harden off. Well, except for the pepper. It can go with my bell peppers...
I did get everything except the roses and iris in the ground - this weekend we have to build a couple more beds. I changed my plan and put the Brazilian Rock Rose right in the center of the yard (thanks Dennis!). I was also blessed with a couple of pots that "spill" and I have a packet of Shasta Daisies that I will make spill out of the pot across the yard for the puppies.
I am so excited about it all - I will post pics when things start growing in the next month. Right now it is all in my head just waiting till Terry finishes this semester of school so he can help me get it all in.
Thanks again everyone!
Angel
I am still amazed at all the plants I brought home! I put a lot in the ground/pots yesterday. The hummer/butterfly garden will be full when it all grows up. The veggies are all tucked in. I still need to plant the irises. I put several things in larger pots so they will have growing room until we finish cleaning up around the shed in the next week or two. It's so exciting to have new babies in the gardens!! Thank you! Thank you!
Carol
GFWaco, did you see the Roma w/it's baby? Might make sure you cover them tonite since your weather is pretty chilly & they have not been hardened off!!
