The leaves are turning yellow and there is damage everywhere in the plant. We had a light frost about 3 weeks ago. Is this frost damage? If so, do I trim the leaves that are damaged? Also, can anyone ID this plant. I think it is an Agave Difformis. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
What is happening to my plant?
I do not think Agave difformis is what you have...your plant doesn't have the distinct lines seen in A difformis

The damage pictured looks very much like frost/freeze damage. The water in the leaves freezes and ruptures the cells leaving behind pitted, yellow patches that look like the leaf has been "crushed" flat. The areas will often turn yellow first then black or brown and dry up leaving an obvious dead patch. Here is some info on taking care of agaves with frost/freeze damage. the first link is from University of Florida and includes images of Agaves in their collection. This may help provide an ID for your plant.

Thank you THEMOONHOWL for all the information. I learned a lot from the websites to mentioned.
You are most welcome Luttchaves...perhaps you will see a plant similar to yours in the UFL link, but I do agree with PalmBob that it may well be a hybrid, which makes it much harder to ID.
The closest I can find in the UFL link is one of the Agave Americanas. Most likely, it is a hybrid as I purchased it at a garage sale. I'll keep looking. Thanks again.
That is what I call buying orphans...you may never know their "last" name, only their first...but at least knowing that is helpful.
