Sansevieria

Sliema, Malta

I have been growing Sansavieria in the balcony for some time, but was thinking of moving it indoors. I'd like to place it on the stairs leading to my apartment (the main door is made of glass, so allows a lot of indirect light). Since the plant is not bushy, I thought it would be ideal for a staircase. Is this plant ok to grow indoors? Thanks.

Yes - it's one of the most common houseplants here because it's so easy to manage. It doesn't particularly LIKE low light, but tolerates it much better than most plants. Expect slowed growth and the plant wanting you to increased the intervals between watering as light diminishes.

It is also known as "Snake Plant" or "Mother-in Law's Tongue"...

Most tolerant of many different locations and exposures. Just DO NOT over water it!

Mother-in-law's tongue, also known as Sansevieria or Snake Plant makes an ideal indoor plant. It produces elegant variegated foliage, yet is an easy to care for plant.

Remember the less light the plant is getting the less water is required. Too much water will result in root rot and failure. Too little water will cause the leaves to wrinkle and lead to failure.
