2013 N Central TX RU April 21st in Arlington #1 TRADE

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Steadycam, I have you down for the aloe.

Josephine, do you know how big your agaves get? I'm trying to collect some that do well in containers.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Dennis, these get pretty big, sort of like Agave americana, but I am sure they would be o.k. in a pot for a while, they are hardy.

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

Can I have one, Josephine?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Of course Dennis, it is yours.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Josephine, could I have a white passionflower & a columbine? I'll be getting my list up next wk.

Arlington, TX

Dennis,
If you are looking to make a succulant pot garden I would suggest a twist leaf yucca from patrob. I got two from her a couple years ago and they remain relatively small and are quite tough. Add to that they are pretty and its a good overall plant. I put one of mine in my cactus bed and the other is in a reg. garden bed but will probably be moved into a pot this spring. I will take a pic for you tomorrow.
Cheryl

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes Smockette, they are yours.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine, could I get one of your Carolina phlox and a white passionflower?

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Josephine, I would like the Brazos Penstemon and the white passion flower.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

O.k. Pat and Marty, they are yours.

Fort Worth, TX

My oh my...

I can bring some egg cartons, but not many, just freecycled a bunch.
I have 2 potted small lantana, Pink/yellow/white Lantana camara "confetti", potted last fall, ready to go.....
I am digging out Iris to add another bed to the vegetable garden, might pot a couple. I have some of the fancy peach scented ones (see my have list). .
beautiful silver artemisa, fine leaved type, 2 cuttings
I have a pot of very pale early daffodils that are scented. Tazetta Narcissus
6 Leucojum Aestivum. bulbs, 2 of which still have stems, potted up today.
1 rooted cutting of red turks cap, might make it. Will bring if alive.
mixed color dutch bearded iris - white, lavender, blue, purple - unknown which is which
Starts of my oregano, which blooms white, is only moderately invasive, mild spicy flavor (not super hot), and MIGHT be greek oregano "Origanum vulgare" but its taste does not burn the tongue. I cook with it a lot, very nice stuff fresh or dried.

i would like a rooted cutting of passionflower edulis.
I have been looking for this for years, last had one in the early 1990's:
Honey Daisy, Huisache Daisy, Amblyolepsis setigera
a mason bee house or woodblock with tubes would be wonderful. And any kind of bee forage.
There is a tiny wildflower that grows in little grassy clumps about 6 inches tall and is native to north Texas, Swordleaf Blue-Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium chilense), Iridaceae Family, native, perennial, blooms in March through May

Thank you DG for the Texas natives thread. I'd like a small clump if anyone has any. (although it likes being in the lawn better than a watered flowerbed.

Gypsi and others that are new to our RUs....
I will add you a link to the post you just made and put it at the top of this thread with the others. When you get ready to update it, just click that link, then click where it says "in reply to". Then you will see the normal edit in the left column. Hope that helps.

We usually add the attendance thread about a month before so people have plans all set and know they are coming. Then a couple weeks or so before the RU we will put out a food thread you can sign up for that.

One other thing is door prizes (one for each person in your group) nothing expensive, garden related and not gender specific. Bird feeder, yard art, gloves, a plant, book, even potting soil, etc.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Perfect Joy! I am not picky on color - Dmail me and let me know what you want in trade. I have my list up

Angel

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Waco, How do you use wine bottles as planters? Sounds interesting.

Sylvania, GA(Zone 8b)

Steady Cam I will take some - can you Dmail me and let me know what you would like in trade please.

Patrob I would love some poop if you have any left.

Frostweed, what would you take in trade for one of your Brazillian Rock Roses?

Angel

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Patrob I would like some of your Huernia plant if possible. I have rooted plants of gold trailing lantana, lavender trailing and the standard pink and white, also a red one and a fragrant lantana that is salmon and yellow. Which ones should I bring you?

You can put moss or peat with a small amount of soil mix in them in a ball of chicken wire that fits up inside the bottle, then you can take a wire coat hanger and fish it down into the neck of the bottle and hook it to the chicken wire with the larger hook on the other end to hang it. I like to use needle nose pliers and crimp the smaller hook onto the chicken wire just to make sure it isn't going to blow apart in our Texas wind. I don't have any pictures of my old ones but I have seen some pics on Pinterest of others. They are really pretty. I just don't have any place to hang plants now in our new house.

Angel

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

pbtx, I would like a start of both of your daisies you have listed if possible.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Angel, the 2 Brazilian rock roses are yours, and i can also give you some Iris.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine, what kind of iris do you have? I have tons of beautiful things from you in my garden, but I don't think I have an iris from you for my "DG friends iris bed."

Got Cheryl for echinacea and Marty for both daisies.

Marty, do you think you'll have enough coleus pinched to bring me a piece of Hot Sauce? Mine didn't make it over the winter and it's one of my faves.

Stephanie, could I prevail upon you for a couple of your west Texas mist flowers? One of the things we're doing at my friend's house is starting a butterfly garden.

Sheila, would you please add a link for my trade list? Thanks.

Yea, Sheila, would you please add a link for my trade list? Thanks....

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I will put your name on the Hot sauce, pbtx

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Waco, you dont have to D mail to do your trading. You can do it right here on this thread. Sheila was talking to me and bananna about buying and selling having to be done by D mail.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie, the Iris I have is rather common, bearded purple but they are large and smell very nice. I will have some for you.

Arlington, TX

Ok, this is a strange request but I would love any small mammal skulls if anyone has any. I have enough cow but would love some others. Just so you know, I am using them to design a lab activity for my students. Goat, sheep and others would be welcome.
C

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Angel, I will bring goat poop for you. I'll also have some bearded irises to share, though I'm not sure of all the colors right now.

Marty, I'll put your name on a pot of Huernia. I'd love to have starts of your gold and lavender trailing lantanas for sure as well as any of the others that you can easily root a piece of. I'm trying to plant a large island bed with plants the deer won't destroy, and I'm using all different colors.

.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Marty, I found at least a dozen cowpen daisy seedlings this morning and am adding them to my list. How many would you like?
I'm almost positive that I will have Ratibida (Mexican hats) and prairie verbena as well. If we just get a little rain, they will pop up and show me they are alive and well.

Fort Worth, TX

I had a squirrel or possum skull but I seem to have lost it. Found it on the lot, I'm guessing a hawk beheaded the rodent and left the head.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Patrob, At least 2 cowpen daisies, in case one dies. I will bring you one of each of my lantanas maybe two if I have them. If you do end up having some Ratibida and prairie verbena, I'd like at least two of each of those as well. and Thanks.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I've got you down, Marty, and thank you for the lantanas.

Arlington, TX

I have some prairie verbena seedlings potted up if you would like a couple Marty.
Cheryl

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Cheryl. Yes, I would.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry Pattie, Smockette & Anna...I will correct and add your links at the top. Been busy as a bee this last week. Next week looks much better thankfully, maybe I can get a list up too!

Should be fixed now.
