What do I do now???

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

I was given some cuttings of different herbs and I put them in pots, all but one died. Now I have some cuttings for a pomagranite tree and I put it in a glass of water. It is doing really well but is there anything special I am suppose to do when I plant it, I don't want to lose it also. It has alot of new growth and looks nice but I am scared to death to touch it. Please help. Thanks.

Hello Venessa. I've never tried cuttings, though I was thinking about it. Isn't there any kind of hormone growth powder you can use? I think they also appreciate gentle heat. I'm afraid that's just about my limit on cuttings. Perhaps a GC nearby can suggest something? Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi,I always use a root horomone on my cuttings when I pot them.It works great on cuttings.I use the powder form on everything. Most of the cuttings do great lol Diana

How about geranium cuttings? Do you prefer putting them in vermiculite, or something like that, or do you use the slip in a glass of water method?

Along with the new growth, does your pomegranate have roots? How large is the cutting? I would find the appropriate pot size (the smallest possible for its size) and use a mix of peat, vermiculite and perlite. I would put a small amount in the pot, set the cutting very gently in the center and then begin to sprinkle and very gently firm this mix around the cutting up to where it was above water. Then I would give it a drink of 1/2 strength liquid seaweed fertilizer. Make sure your pot has excellent drainage. Keep your cutting moist but not soggy. And good luck!

ollie, i took some geranium cuttings about three weeks ago. They still look good. I dipped the end in rooting hormone, put them in cell packs with grow mix. I do not overwater(I read that somewhre. If this works i'll have 12 new little one.
