I planted some speedy salad leaves in small pots with the intention of transplanting into larger containers. Is this necessary, or can I leave them in the small pots? Also, do you think they need thinning out? Thanks.
Speedy Salads
You will want to separate them and plant them into larger containers so the roots have room to grow.
I agree they will need to be moved. I grow a lot of lettuce in boxes 6inchesx6inchesxeight feet long. By the end of the year the box holds a solid hunk of roots but the roots have done their job by then.
The container in which you have planted it is too small. The plants will not grow properly in it.It will be better if you move them in some bigger container.

Thanks, I have now transplanted them all into one large container. They seem to be doing ok so far, but although the packet says harvest in 21 days, I don't think that's true. It takes longer!
