Speedy recovery from the surgery, Becky. Will be thinking of you.
Continued Support for Becky as she's Alabama bound
Jill - the radio/onc is all aboard on this, I know all the risks and I also know I 'can' live without the nodes...I didn't agree to this lightly
Becky, continuing to think of you daily and sending positive thinking energy and prayers your way.
Good, Becky... you know me, always double-checking & trying to have your back! Lifting you up in prayer tonight...
Thinking of you Becky. We want you 100% better! Sorry it's taking so much work for you.
Becky, this thread is full of our prayers, concerns and wishes for you and I'm sure double that is coming your way today with your surgery for a good recovery. Hope you'll soon be enjoying that 'cute garden guy' and more settling in in Ala.

Pulling for you, your family and medical teams today. Praying all goes well.
TOY Wishing strength and sunny days!
Day II & I'm feeling pretty good - good painmeds & taking it very easy seems the way to go! I'm so grateful & humbled by all the prayers, well wishes & healing thoughts...they are working! Doc was very pleased with surgery results, he thinks the pathology will come back with totally clean margins! He even didn't have to do as much as he first thought & using old surgery scars minimized the discomfort! I go to see him on the 27th, should know then exactly when I start chemo/rads...he didn't minimize what Reed did, but feels that I was under-treated & aggressive was the way to go - by removing all the lymphnodes there will be no need for brachytherapy & less radiation damage :-) the staff at women's & children's hospital here are incredible! I was in ICU overnight & got much better individual care there :-) Tricare has been really good to me & the surgery cost me $25! MIL is here taking care of me for another week & I'm beyond lucky to have her - very good friends of us from MT should be rolling in here around noon, Greg needs his buddy to go out with and blow off a little steam, it's been very tough on him as well!
Glad you and Greg have the support needed. Very happy to hear the DR's take on this. Rest and recoup!! So you can put Jeremy to work.
It sounds like you had a great surgical team there. So good to hear recovery is going ok. I love nurses in general, but aren't ICU nurses the best? :) That's great that you have friends coming to visit!
Quick update...healing nicely, I've been "well behaved" & listened to Doc, taking everything V E R Y slow! Hoping I'll get the clear to drive on Thursday since the healing is way ahead of schedule - how do I know? Everything itches! Even my Frankensteinish staples!!
Our friends left this morning, Mom leaves tomorrow...not looking forward to that :-(
You GO, girl!
I'm delighted to hear you're healing up so quickly. Good for you, following doc's orders. :-) After you're cleared for PT, work on those range of motion exercises as much as you can, and don't be afraid to massage and stretch the tissue as the area heals... everything you can do to prevent scar tissue or break it down as it forms will help more than you can imagine! I'm so happy you've got a great medical team down there -- and that they're willing to take an aggressive stand against this cancer. We've got a lot of living to do yet, you and I -- we don't need even the ghost of a chance of cancer slowing us down!
Beck, I just had my second carpel surgery in 5 years. I did do 1 thing different this time. I had them send me to PT, not so much for range of motion (ROM) , but more for the ultrasound, cold laser treatments, and physical work on the scars themselves. The only thing uncomfortable was the physical "scraping" of the scars with a blunt/ round tool. These Rxs are all known to reduce scar tissue formation, the entire cause of the need for my the 2nd round. You may want to ask your therapist if such treatment is available and appropriate in you case.
I would surely agree that you two "have a lot of living yet to do". Glad for the itching, bec.
I am finding this talk about tending to the scar itself very interesting. I haven't heard of that before. You can bet I will be researching this now. Heehee
Quick update! The pathology came back with clean margins...now I know we made the right decision & aggressive is the way to go! Staples are still in, and I'm limping a bit - but, much better today & I'm cutting back on pain-meds...I go back on Tuesday & have a tiny hope of removal of staples & drains then...I'm being very, very good & not overdoing it...I want the all clear to drive!
what great news!!!
Thanks for the update, dear!! Great news indeed
Becky, I'm checking in and glad to hear you are doing better, also thankful that your new home brings you in touch with caring providers for your health. Prayers for full recovery I still pray for you and prayers of endurance for your sweetie. The Lord really matched you up with a good one.
I love the new house, I think it is a great new start for you both and gives you something to focus on while recovering.
Blessing to you both. AL is different than VA, but you will love us southern folks (my dads side of the family is from AL).
Jan
Thanks Jan, meeting radiologist today for mapping & possible start date...healing nicely, still have some discomfort - but, apparently I have a very high pain-level tolerance...gyn/onc very happy with progress & outcome of surgery. I'm finally driving again & today I'll drive myself to appointment - DH has been taking too much time off & I need him when I start treatments instead...love living here, from the house to the people - Huntsville is so much more than I expected 😍
Sounds like Huntsville has embraced you with wide, open arms!!!
I'm glad to hear Huntsville has been good for you and hubby.
jan
Everything is ahead of schedule, healing wise - I will not be getting any chemo!!! AND the radiation will be very localized to zap the remaining cells and will cause the least amount of radiation damage!! Both docs are amazed at how well things are going and very pleased with the outcome!! :)
Whoa, that's excellent news! No chemo!!!
Woohoo!!!!
God is good, and so are you! Praying is vital, just wish everyone on this great Earth realized the potency of talking to God. Bless Him, and Bless You! We are all holding each other's hands every day that we have.
I hope that the upcoming cooler season will find you feeling better and that you have a great Thanksgiving...will be a TRUE day of thanks.
Yes, you all, you might think that I am jumping the gun, but I work on deadline, and am always a month in the future...I have almost finished August! Then, it's Fall!
Dropping in to say hello.....sorry that I have been missing in action for some months now and haven't taken the time to keep up with all that Bec has going on. I didn't read back very far here, but from what I read, it all sounds great. So glad that you are loving Huntsville Becky.....I feel that you are the type that can settle in nicely where ever this life takes you.......I am super excited that your attitude is still one of a very positive nature......that my friend is more than half the battle......our minds can be our worst enemies....I know that for sure.
I did have the opportunity at one point to look at the pictures you shared of your new home and it looks really lovely. I know that it must be lots of fun for you to decorate and make it a home for your family....I also read some of the post of your spread sheet for a garden.....my hat is off to you for doing that......yep, we are the same kind of gardeners that you claim to have been before....if there is a space, in goes whatever we need to plant.
Our lives have been up in the air for some months and we have done very little gardening, nor have I been involved with chatting with any of my favorite gardeners here.....I really miss folks when I don't stay in touch as much as I would like to.....Just in the past week or so have thing settled enough that I have had an opportunity to tune back in to the mid atlantic gardeners group and I am having difficulty feeling as though I belong any more...so far behind in reading that I feel like a definite outsider.....will need to work on correcting that now that life has calmed a bit.
So glad to have stopped by this thread and read your good news Becky.....Of course, I will continue to hold you close in my heart and prayers.....keep on keeping on girl.....Will do better about keeping up with all you have going on.
Ruby
Ruby, you'll never be an "outsider" here! When I see a post from you, I always greet it with a big smile and a hug. :-)
Ditto!!!
So happy to read this latest up date. Hallelujah.
Janet
Today I go for my 'dry-run' for radiation, they've made the mould for my legs, so I can lay 100% still, I'll get my radio tattoos & the radio is image guided so very little damage to surrounding organs - I get to wear not just one, but TWO gowns & I can't help but hear the 'I'm too sexy...' In the back of my head! It'll be 27 rounds & last day is the 13th of September - I'm expecting to be sore, a little burnt & tired - and God willing this will be it!
Becky, you have hair! Hooray again for no chemo!
Love the photo!
Hooray for our brave, tough, classy, sassy Becky! I'll be sending lots of gentle hugs your way...
WOW, your hair really is growing back great!! (Loved the 'clean' look though) ... just don't start singing and giggling during the treatment. =)
ROFLOL, I'm too sexy.........

Now, we're all singing that song. Heehee
