My peas didn't make it :( don't know what I did wrong other than I think I didn't get them in the ground in time ????
I didn't have the garden ready, guess now I can put them right in the ground, Yes????

I am such a newbie when it comes to veggie gardening

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I don't do much in veggies Jen but my neighbor does and he direct sows his peas and beans. Seems like he does it about now and always has a bumper crop.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

not sure Jen.. sorry never grew them either

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

You could try it, but peas like cooler weather so if it gets hot soon they probably won't do real well. My dad always said to plant peas on St. Patrick's Day. Hey, that's what gardening is all about. A live and learn experience. I didn't plant any peas this year either, cuz in order to get any appreciable amount for us I would need to plant lots of rows. Usually I get enough to have a few dinners worth. Or just eat them right in the garden. YUM!! I do soooo wish I had paid more attention to what my dad did in the garden.

Thomaston, CT

Are you talking about sweet peas or edible peas? Either can be directly sown now, but it helps to soak in warm water overnight......

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I am going to start some peas directly in the ground. I am cooler than you, but I know they do well in my area direct sown now.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ok, in the ground they will go, thanks!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

No problem! :)

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I was just going back and looking at some older posts. That cinnamon tip sounds great! I want to try it. :)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

1 of the pea plants actually came back to life :)

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

That's good! This is so off topic but I am so upset with myself! I left my camera on the back of my van and forgot. My husband found it drivin over, someone put it in our mailbox :(

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I wish it could come back to life! lol

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh that really stinks!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

That really stinks!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

That does stink!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Awe, so sorry! Thats just a nightmare. :(

Thomaston, CT

On, no.....new camera for Mother's Day?

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

Maybe an upgrade? Silver lining? Lol...

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I know! The thing that kills me is it was a new camera hubby got me for Christmas. It wasn't an awesome one or anything but still :( However I have managed to keep my first Digital Camera around since 2004! Go figure.. I just got the batteries charged and the memory stick in it. To be honest I actually like my old camera better, it takes the picture much faster... except I think the lense is dirty. Not sure if I can fix that.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Starting to move stuff outside finally...finished up the MGs and got the dahlias going they will go out last.
Coleus are still small but looking good.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

We're staying in the high forties, chilly but I need to get started.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Thomaston, CT

My flower sprouts are looking pretty nice, especially anchusa......I'll put them out in the shade for today.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have cukes!!! My cucumbers started blossoming and I wondered if they would pollinate as they only got out during the day. Evidently a bee helped me out after all!!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I have a seedling that looked like it was going to get a flower.. I thought it was odd.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

cukes? in maine? my seeds have not even broken the surface!

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

I have a ton of seedlings to plant out, and the weather has not been helpful. We've been here since Friday so I could catch up, and so far there's been 1 1/2 days of good gardening weather.

Yesterday we replaced the dead PG Hydrangea standard that broke in Sandy, so of course I spent the rest of the day weeding, planting and mulching the whole bed it was in. I had a bunch of Alchemilla, Digitalis Pam's Split and Digitalis Grandiflora seedlings, I'm curious to see how they do with the new tree. The old one was a dwarf, and it created a haven for volunteer Cranesbills and Lobelia Siphilitica, which are still there, at least so far. They got full morning sun, but some relief from the south and west. I hope that still works.

This afternoon it rained again. That didn't keep me from finishing re-arranging the section I was working on, but it did send me in early. I really hope it clears tomorrow afternoon and stays nice for a couple of days, as promised. All those months of nurturing babies, and now I can't get them into the ground- yikes!

At least the Azaleas are blooming, and the peonies are in bud...

None of my seedlings have been planted yet, either, Pam....maybe on Thursday I'll get to them......you have lots of babies to plant, I see...the azaleas are looking good!

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

There are still 5 flats in the house and one in the miniGH...

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Same here, none planted. I have been trying to get them used to the sun. They are getting the dark green vein with yellowish green between look. I have 14 flats of various seedlings. I still am moving Daylilies out of my vegetable garden. Between yesterday and today I moved a dozen. The weather ruined my plans for planting all weekend!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

And it doesn't look good here for tomorrow either. Rain and then the next day ridiculous heat!

This weekend you might see something?

(Pam) Warren, CT(Zone 5b)

I know that yellow-green look only too well :-(. Today I carried two flats down to where I want to plant them, and ended up digging up several plants and bringing them down to another bed instead. So tomorrow I WILL plant those flats and maybe add more if there's room, and finish off that section. I promise!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

LOL! I say that all the time...start one thing then see something else that needs attention...
I have a few more coleus to get potted up then the tomatoes then the dahlias then the sunflowers yikes!
