This is very close to where I work. Some employees have children in that school. Everyone is holding thier breath.

Just heard the worst - kids among dead.

Hearing at least one child dead, along with the principal and psychologist. Gunman may have been a student's father.

Oh God - reports now that many have been killed. I pray that is wrong.

At least a dozen killed.

Staggering - CBS is reporting at least 27 dead. God help us.

14 are kids.

hard to understand why anyone would do this.

This is beyond my comprehension. I am so sad for the families that have been torn apart by this senseless act of evil.

Just saw it on the news. Terrible - A lawyer stated: "We have to recognize this is the kind of world we live in now". Very scary.

I despise the media interviewing traumatized kids. Parents and teachers should never allow it.

The lawyer hardly has the answer.There are entirely too many guns available in this country.

The gunman obviously had issues and anger.

Lots of factors. Every time something like this happens, it becomes obvious that there were SO many warning signs that could/should have been acted upon. And apparently there was a slashing attack in China today as well. 22 kids were slashed. Supposedly, this guy was 'buzzed in' because they recognized him as the teacher's son.

Most of those killed were kindergarteners.Plus his mother the teacher.

I have been crying since the news hit the Hartford station at 11:30...at that point they only said there was a shooting in Sandy Hook and the shooter is dead......the news got worse & worse.....this guy was in camo with multiple weapons....his mother wasn't in school because he had already killed her....don't know why they buzzed him in.....sick, sick, b*****d! As someone who spent a lifetime in the classroom protecting kids, & married to a principal who would give his life for them, I just cannot comprehend this.....

Will never understand the taking of innocent life. In this case I am guessing he felt he would get at the mother more by doing this??

There are too many conflicting reports. If the mother was killed elsewhere as stated on thenews ,why go to her classroom and murder innocents.
