If you're a beginner and want to feel successful fast then please give yourselves the pleasure and ease of using caladiums. They can brighten any shady spot and there are many that can tolerate sun.
The strap varieties (shorter than the "fancy leaved" but many more leaves) are ideal for hanging baskets.
Very nice accent in pots either in the garden or on a deck or your front steps.
You can see how they brighten this spot!
Great for window boxes and easier, by far, than the typical begonias and impatiens - so much easier to plant!
Many look like stained glass in the garden.
Now our caladium guy, Bill, is offering all DG people a 15% discount if you use his special code when you order. Give them a try - you won't be disappointed. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1289645/
