I had to go by whatever advice I could find, on gardening sites, regarding how to salvage my aloe from root rot. I accidentally discovered it had root rot while trying to harvest the plant's pups. The plant appeared mostly healthy, so I never suspected anything as serious as root rot. I followed my finds, & cut away the decay down to the healthy flesh. I allowed them to callus for 2 days. Only 2 of them were placed in cactus potting soil afterwards, since the others will likely be given away. Anyhoo, they still had to have rot removed a few days later. I think I either forgot to sterilize the blade at on point or they should have been allowed to callus longer. I had to cut less than an inch from the plant's base. There is still a little stem on the base of the plants, but not the inch one gardening blog recommended, pictures & all.
Will the plants still be able to re-root themselves?
Is the cactus potting soil contaminated, or still safe to pot the plants in?
Can my Crosby's Prolific Aloe be saved?
