First time I've checked in on everyone since the end of September. Hope I can see to type through the tears from reading Celeste's poem. I am feeling some shock that your brother is gone so quickly, Celeste. Sending you hugs and very deep condolences. I love the photos you posted from Brian's service. What a lovely bunch of kids you have....so much like their Mom, inside and out!

Congrats to you, Jan, on your new arrival! That's just great! Post pics when you can!

Hello to all of you.....I'm hanging in and had a couple doctor appointments last week. Progress is slow but good. We will have to stay up here an extra month for me to start a new med and be monitored closely so I don't slip back into toxic land. Not the worse thing to have Thanksgiving with my son. :). My brain stuff is better, and that is what I was most worried about. Looks like I am on track, thankfully. Don't think I'm not missing keeping up on all of you .....I'll get there sooner than later. Just feeling so sad for our brave friend, Celeste right now.

Hugs to you all!

I want to dump a couple of my houseplants instead of bringing them in for the Winter. I really don't want them and don't have room for them to sit around now that I have a patio door. I FEEL GUILTY about killing the plants. Please, someone say it is OK!

South Hamilton, MA

OK can't keep everything in the house.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Can you find someone to take them? Can you bring them to work? If not then dump them :(

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Jen - do you want me to feel EVEN MORE GUILTY?

Thomaston, CT

I know how you feel....even when my pointsettia is straggly & yellow, when I dump it outside I feel like a murderer......

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sending good healing thoughts Louise (((♥)))

Yank I was going to suggest you give them away too! I'll be in that boat soon when I don't feel like dragging in all the potted cannas.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

list them on freecycle Memory

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Asking for good thoughts today if I may, going for a double epidural, hopefully no more back pain for a bit. They weren't successful before the surgery so hoping they will be this time. Wish me luck!

Hubby has been home for 3 days now with his back problems out(again)

Thomaston, CT

Scary about the contaminated back pain meds!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks guys! Long day, pain was real bad earlier, I know that happens for a few days but it was double...thank goodness for strong meds today :-)
My docs announced as soon as the contamination scare came out that they don't use that particular brand. I wasn't worried.

Jen what kind of back trouble does your hubs have? I truly feel his pain!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

feel better all!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Best of luck to the back sufferers - I know it too well. Been getting massage therapy. Helps to some degree. Very relaxing, if nothing else.

Problems ever since motorcycle accident in 2000, going to dr tomorrow

East Bridgewater, MA

Decades ago, as a young adult, an injury gave me excruciating back spasms; no drugs, unfortunately, but I went many times to a chiropractor.

During a spasm, I would literally be on my knees, crawling to the sofa; getting to the bathroom (just 20 steps away), would take 10 minutes of strategy and wincing in severe pain.

After a few years, I stopped having the spasms; was it due to the chiropractor, or natural healing of a large, torn muscle in my lower back ?

I don't know. Sadly, it caused me to make "large life decisions" based on the possible recurrance of the spasms, which still cause gives me pause.

The giant "What If" of life's twists and turns.

I get it about the back pain. I have periods of misalignment for which chiropractor helps. The doctors have been offering steroids. Recently I went to acupuncture and learned there that my worst spasms might be caused by the air conditioner unit in my office. It is helping a bit that it's turned off.

It is truly astonishing to realize that any of us could be infected so easily by this fungal menningitis problem. Sometimes we just don't have the option to pass up an injection, either because of the pain and the need to function.

Now the investigation is looking at other medical problems from the same company's plant in Westborough Mass. Truly amazing isn't it that there are no prior inspections or regulations?

How very lovely to hear such nice, warm thoughts from so many. Thank you all! I so for you, Ronnie, and for all of you with bad backs. I had a very similar experience to BA's in 1990 and have gone to a chiropractor ever since. Muscle spasms can be completely crippling when they get going, and all types of back issues are just terrible - especially for us gardeners. So many moves that we do - lifting, bending and pulling, etc. are just the worst for bad backs. Hoping your pain gets a lot better, Ronnie, and hoping your hubby's does as well, Jen! Victor, I agree with you on the massage therapy....it is very relaxing and therapeutic.

Allison - the christening sounds like a very lovely event and a really good day ....glad to hear it!

Sending hugs to all!
Louise

Memory - you think you're bad....I always have to ask Hank to "murder" the annuals, and yet again- despite swearing I wouldn't take plants to Florida - i have loaded up two trays to go with us. I just hate to kill or abandon a plant, so I feel your pain. :(

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

think Randy and I are due for a massage!!!

Thomaston, CT

I had wonderful luck with a chiropractor......I would say I went for about a year....no problems since, & that's been 7-8 years ago......my rheumatologist had put me on a prescription med, but it bothered my stomach, so I quit taking it.....I grab a Tylenol maybe once a month.....
