I have grown portulaca for many years in Toronto now in the same location. I have not done anything different this year, but healthy, flowering plants are dying a slow death. They seem to shrink and just dry up. In the past they have bloomed right up to Mid October. It has been unusually hot summer but I believe theses plants love the heat.
Please help.
What's ailing my portulaca
Can you post some pictures? They do love heat so it likely isn't the heat alone that caused a problem, unless you bought plants and planted them and they had no time to get established before hot weather hit. It would also help to know a little more about how you're caring for them (watering, etc). They don't need a ton of water so is it possible that you overcompensated for the hot weather by watering them too much?
