Hi, I'm looking for a native ground cover (I live in SW Pennsylvania) for a dry patch of soil that extends through shade into the sun. Any ideas? I'm considering Meehania cordata (creeping ground mint), Senecio aureus (golden groundsel), orTrauvetteria carolinensis (False bugbane). One requirement is that the plant(s) grow quickly and are able to spread into the area so that weeds don't come through next summer.
Any ideas or comments on the plants I've mentioned? I'd love to have a stand of asters; do those "own" a patch and keep weeds from coming through?
Thanks.
Supriya.
Ground cover for sun AND shade
asters dont own, but would add color thru, Not sure how those would work for you, wish you luck on what you choose!
Weeds will try to come thru anything no matter what. Ajuga spreads pretty quickly and can grow in both sun and shade

The OP is looking for native plants (great!) and ajuga is not native.
