First of all, Hi. I'm new to this site and any help would be appreciated. I live in Southern Oregon and have 55 acres that is mostly wooded with 30 - 50 ft pines. redwoods, cedar and the such with ferns growing underneth. How ever the parts that are open about 10+ acres is plush lawns and 25 - 30% grades. I would like to apply ground cover on these grades where maintenance is an issue. I tried a patch of clover as a test ( I can't remember which type it was but it looked like large shamrocks) it grew terryfic and did well through the winter and spring. However it grew to tall , 4-6 inches. The voles and mice loved it, so did my cats. Is there a type of clover that grows close to the ground, doesn't require mowing, lives year round, and will chock out any weeds. Or am I looking in the wrong direction. Thank You

Clover ground cover
Hi Esky, welcome to DG. Here are a few groundcovers that I think will work in your area...The first two are actually subshrubs, the 3rd link has plants that work in pathways and between stepping stones.
