Best Flowering Plant _ Low Maint for a Planter

Parrish, FL

Hi..new to the GULF side of Florida climate... We are in Parrish, just north of Bradenton. We have a planter in the front which faces south... Want to plant flowers for color... This is what it looks like...minus the bush which I removed 8-16..

I believe we are in ZONE 10 ????

We are considering Clematis on a trellis...

Please advise on your thoughts and suggestions

Thanks...

Are you looking for something to shade the windows a bit, offer some screening from the street, or just add color? Also, are you looking for perennials, annuals or a mix?

Sorry for all the questions, but they do help....grin

Besides the above questons, what type of irrigation set-up is in place or planned?

Great questions.. :)

HI... Add some color. low maint, low growing no higher than 2 ft.. we will put something the vine can cling to, something to attract the eye to the flowers and away from the windows.

Watering system is in place... we have sprinklers set up in the planter, they will be turned on manually..

Thanks

The first link is just to give you some ideas for your trellis. Hope these help.

The rest are for perennials, under 2ft for the most part that are full sun, and drought tolerant, easy to care for. I figure you can tuck a few annuals in the bed to provide color in the off times. The list of sun annuals is quite long...just google sun annuals for zone 9 and tons of stuff will come up.
