I have attempted to grow Black-seeded Simpson lettuce twice this year and it never looks like what I've seen in videos online. Mine is pale and anemic and stringey looking. What am I doing wrong?
Another question - this time it's my lettuce
Where is Bright, In? It's really hot for lettuces- they like springtime temps, water, after a certain temp they get long and bolt and the flavor can turn a bit 'strong', where also are you planting them? A garden? A flower box?
Bright is near Cincinnati, OH, where IN, KY, and OH meet almost on the Ohio River. You're probably right about the heat being the problem. It's been pretty bad here.
Your area has a lot more drought than farther north, too, apparently they tried to bolt from the start- hence the length and legginess, and also from lack of moisture there, try again in Sept? I think? When onions and cold weather stuff are getting ready or, until Feb/March when winter is gone
