Good going Crash!
NE Pets Forum #23
I haven't been on in a few day's. I've been busy. I did want to let you know about Bear. He had a seizure last Thursday. He's had one before about a year ago. It was either Memorial Day weekend or Fourth of July weekend when no one is around.
I had made an appointment for a friends dog because they didn't like the vet they had been seeing. It turns out they were right to change. Anyway I decided I was going to run Bear in right along with the other dog so that the vet would have a chance to examine him close to the event.
Bear's temperature was normal and they drew blood to check for a low thyroid level. It turns out that his thyroid level was 1.4 and the vet told me that normal for a dog is 1.5 to 3.5? I've gotten him on thyroid meds and he is doing great. He's back to his old chipper self again. So between the office call, flea medicine, blood test and thyroid meds it was $195.
Oh, poor Bear....and poor you, too! So frightening....both my male airedales had seizures....just awful to watch....
oh hope Bear is all better with the meds!!!
Good luck, Doug!
Glad Bear is OK! ((((♥))))
Doug im sorry to hear that about Bear, glad you brought him right in and I hope the meds continue to wok !
Doug - you can buy flea meds on eBay or from a Pet Meds site on the internet and save a bundle. Hope Bear continues to do well on the thyroid meds and no more seizures! Also the thyroid med may be a generic that you can get a Rx for and buy somewhere that they are offering generics for $3.
awwww
I want to cut that guy's pony tail off, though
very cool.. what a sweetie!!!
This is Bentley...though we call him Rooga-Roo. He is the very best dog I've ever had. He is a mix of Dachshund and Pekingese. (We sometimes refer to him as a Dachahnese).
The cats name is Gizmo, he's also an excellent pet who just adores my wife and MUST be at the foot of our bed every night (or he'll drive us nuts meowing and scratching at the bedroom door).
cute babies!!!
Yes!
Awe beautiful fur babies!! I used to have a black & white cat named Gizmo too! ^_^
Crash's followup thyroid blood test was normal. Meds working well!
YAY!
Thanks! May have my parents come and stay here while we're away. They can bring their cat, Josh.
Josh? Hee hee he!!!
Hi to Bentley and Gizmo!
Yay for Crash!
glad Crash is doing well on them!!
Winston goes in the morning to get nutered. Took him for a long walk so maybe he will sleep a bit later since he can't eat. He can have a small drink when he gets up.
Uh oh, time for the cone of shame
Good to hear Victor
Hi, Bentley and Gizmo!
Yay for Crash! Hello Bently and Gizmo. Winston - it is a good thing.
Glad Crash is better...good idea about your parents coming to your house, Victor! Loved the photo of the dog being held in Lake Superior....you could see the love.......and 2 new cuties in Bently & Gizmo....good luck to Winston, Ronnie!
Harper was not too happy when I came home without Winston...she wouldn't eat her breakfast, kept looking out the door. I guess she was thinking like Atticus, he wasn't coming home...it was sad. She finally ate after my GD Sophie moved her bowl over to where he eats...weird, that's exactly what she did after Atticus died.
:( awwwww, did you keep telling her he'll be back soon?
Imagine how happy Harper will be when Winston comes home!
aawww poor baby
Awe, she will be so happy when he comes home. What a sweetheart!!
Winston is home and did great. Sleepy as can be now but he ate and drank and kept it down so all is well.
Harper was beside herself when I came home. She was all over him, and not just in that "oh you smell like the vet" way. I swear she was truly happy to see him.
Abby on the other hand actually rolled her eyes and sighed!
What a nice homecoming for the big boy! Robin truly loved Suey, & although she didn't show that overt affection, she was very depressed when he didn't come home.....

I'll look around for the flea meds. I figured I would go the prescription route if it works, then I did a little calculation and realized that the vet only charged me $5 for a month and a half supply and a month supply would have cost me $3.50 at my own pharmacy. So the medicine was a few cents cheaper at my vets.
Thought luvgreatdanes would like this: http://now.msn.com/beagle-puppy-plays-with-great-danes-tail
And I did...so cute! Thanks for that, it brightened my day!!
That's one good-natured Dane!
