Sugar Baby melons - have harvested a few & were great. Have a bunch more almost ready. We have had 9 inches of rain here in the last 7 days, raining every day!
Will this much water mess up the melons that are (were?) almost ready ?
Soil is sandy & drains well, they never really sat in water puddles as entire garden is mulched & level. Tomatoes always get messed up when almost ready to pick & get that much water.
Another Watermelon Question
Should not hurt them unless the vines drowned.
Keep an eye on the melons. The excess rain after such a dry summer might make them split open.
Local growers say that too much moisture before harvest can cause a more bland tasting melon also. Please let us know how they turn out?
Ya I know that scenario will make tomatoes split, and now the sun is beating down. No the vines did not drown, they LOOK fine. Some of them are just about ready, will post back in a few days when we get a taste.
