I don't like to drive but that would work!!
Coffee Break # 83
There goes the neighborhood!! ^_^
Heehee. Only you, Victor!! That would be a very cool adventure
I would scatter weed seeds at night in Bill's and Patti's gardens.
LOL!!
Victor! Yes, wouldn't it be lovely if we could share our gardens daily, just by walking up & down a road.....photos take 2nd place...you can't smell or pick the blooms...well, maybe that's a good thing! I've been drooling over so many of those flowers!
21 morons were treated for burned feet after trying to walk on hot coals for 'inspirational' speaker, Tony Robbins! Where do they find these people?! Do they vote? Procreate? Scary. 'He told me it wouldn't hurt!'
Gullible gooses!
Oh geez!!
(I've been away from DG for a few days, so I'm behind on topics...)
Victor:
Did you make a decision regarding stoves (electric vs. gas) ?
Hi, BA. Yes - gas, but not ready to purchase yet. Still not sure about sealed vs. open burners.
Victor:
A Boston PBS station has been running several retrospectives of Julia Child this weekend, and she did EVERYTHING on a 4-burner electric cooktop, identical to the stove (in slight variations) that I have had in all my residences over the last half-century.
All the professional chefs want gas; they state that by looking at the flame level under the pot, they have a "feel" for the heat level.
I know that experienced pilots talk about "flying by the seat of their pants." Probably the same idea.
The trade-off is safety. The professional chefs, in a professional kitchen, want to be able to "flame" a pan, to cook off any alcohol, or impart a smoky flavor, or speed fluid reduction. They deliberately spill a tiny amount of fluid, usually containing oil and/or alcohol, out the tilted back of the pan to ignite.
It ultimately comes down to a personal choice (like, what is your favorite color).
I'm a timid cook, so I will always go with the fraidy-cat choice of electric, which has the advantage of setting a specific number to preheat a pan...my egg white morning omelet is at 5.5 setting, and I walk away until it's time to pour.
(Gas stoves fetch a higher resale value when it's time to sell a house. But some of us don't move that often.)
Good luck to everyone on the various choices...may everyone's meals be delicious !!!
All very good points, BA. Thank you.
Have not given an update on my MIL in some time. Back in the hospital. Diarrhea is finally over, but major circulation problems again. We just got back and her foot looks like that of a corpse. Tuesday is the last chance to avoid amputation. They will try another bypass. After seeing it today, I would be shocked if it works.

Sorry Victor, I'm guessing you mean her foot. Hoping for the best.
Yes, foot. Fixed it. That was weird! Thanks, Deb.
sorry to hear that Victor.. wish her all the best
Praying for the best for her, Victor.
Prayers for the whole family.....not a good prognosis......
still praying
Used a gas stove for almost 14 years, my parents always had gas, never had a flare up or fire, but I'm talking natural gas not propane
Thanks, all.
Sorry to hear that Victor, prayers for all of you.
So sorry Victor. Will add her to nightly prayers.
Oh No Victor! I had hoped that no news from you meant it was good news, guess I was wrong. ;(
Will continue to pray for her and hope for the best.

celeste we were in owls head by rockland. had the in-laws with us so not able to venture out.
Owls head is a great place!
I love the Rockland-Rockport area! Lots of nice memories.....
Looks great, Bill!
pretty
I had an image of you crossing the country leaving stone cairns behind. Then years later people would say, Yep, wha has been here, too. It was a happy image.
Looks Japanese.
Just spoke with my wife. Because of the very low probability that the bypass would succeed, they have decided to go ahead with the amputation tomorrow. Will be about 2/3 way up the calf. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Difficult days ahead - both physically and emotionally. Thank you.
Oh, Victor....so sorry...extra hugs for the boys!
Oh no Victor ((((♥))) hugs and prayers for all!
