beans help

West Hempstead, NY

My bean plants were completely fine when I looked two days ago and today this is what I found. There are no bugs under the leaves.
Does anyone know what this is and what I can do?

The pictures are too small to say for sure, but it looks like powdery mildew, a fungal desease that thrives in damp weather. There are many products, and home remedies to treat it.

is that something that can happen in two days- from fine and healthy to that?

Larger pictures would definitely help if you can get them. From what I can see it doesn't look like powdery mildew, looks more like the leaves were damaged by sun or something like that. Did you at some point spray them with some sort of oil-based insecticide? It almost looks like there were oil droplets on the leaves and then they got hit by sun and burned the leaves in the spots where the oil droplets were. But the pictures are really too small to say for sure.

I will take a new photo in the morning. I was actually wondering about that-the leaves being burnt. I do use a mosquito repellent that I vigorously spray called liquid fence and it has all sorts of natural oils- citronella etc.
I have been reading about powdery mildew and just want to cry! If it was powdery mildew would it happen so fast?
I hope you have a chance to see my new photos tomorrow. We are three hours ahead and it's too dark for photos.
I so appreciate both your help!

citronella oil would definitely burn the leaves like that but you don't spray your plants with it, do you? possibly some drifted over to your plants? if that is the case, your plants will recover. it really looks nothing like powdery mildew to me. if it would be pm, milk or baking soda and water is a good solution.

It definitely is the bug spray. I do spray the garden area because I cant weed with all of the bugs. I was a bit aggressive this week. I can actually see that only the areas that were sprayed was affected. Thanks so much to everyone!

Glad you figured it out! The good news is while it may have made the leaves a bit ugly it won't kill the plant so your beans should be just fine.
