I live in zone 8 & cannot find pussywillows anywhere. My yard runs along a spring-fed waterway & it's a perfect place for them, but nobody around Pensacola has them. Info, please?

Ck on IF they are on they are on the invasives list for Florida as well! Some places levy fines for Planting invasives...
Hey kittriana! Good idea.I checked--not on the invasive list. In New England, they grow everywhere. Down here--some people don't even know what they are.The garden shop I go to says the nearest location is Louisianna. Guess I'm gonna haveta do a mail order. Thanks.Peace. brydas
A great thing about pussywillows is that they are soooo easy to propagate by cuttings. You could buy only one plant and take cuttings after it matures and fill your whole yard.
We cut off branches every late winter/early spring and put them in water to force them to bloom. We leave them in the vase for about 8 weeks (changing the water every now and then) and they will develope roots.
I pot them in potting soil for another few weeks before putting them in their new permanent location to fulling develope roots.
Hey yardner! I grew up in New England & they were everywhere! But now that I'm here in FL, they're not common native shrubs & NOBODY has them. The tell me the closest place to get them is Louisiana. I'm gonna have to mail order them, but I'd rather buy in person, unless someone has some & wants to do a trade of some sort.
Brydas, send me $5.00 for postage and I will send you all of the cutting that you want, I have pink pussywillow all over the place. I will include growing instructions also
How did it work out ,lots of willows.?
