I have a large dahlia that has been doing very well. Now I notice a lot of dried and yellowing leaves. The stems are getting leggy. Some stems have just a a couple of leaves. I have been watering it faithfully because of the extreme heat. I hate to lose this plant, however it is just not as full as it was. Any ideas? Thanks

Can you post some pictures? Too much water & too little water could both be possibilities, they have similar symptoms. You might try doing the "finger test", stick your finger down a few inches into the soil and see how wet it feels. If it's really dry then underwatering is more likely, or if it's wet then overwatering is more likely. I know it's been hot lately but it's still possible to overwater things if they're in soil that doesn't drain well. Or it's of course possible that you're not watering enough--especially if it's in a container, if you've been watering in "sips" instead of giving it a thorough watering it might not be getting enough.
