Medicine in Soil?

We have a few plants growing outside but recently discovered the capsules of a few medications scattered around the bases of the plants, medicines like Benadryl. This is around the area we had our dog that we were recommended to give Benadryl to calm her down. What kind of an effect will this have on the plants? Will the vegetables still be safe for human consumption?
