(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Susie, whats wrong with your Dad? Hope it is not serious?

I am still looking for the yucca's you asked for, my neighbor tore them out two months ago, as the heat killed them. But I can probably find others, so just give me time?

Does he have dementia, or Alzheimer's ? Sorry to hear he is not doing well!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Talk about hot and muggy.. The humidity is dropping here this morning. Down from 94% to 92%. Yippeee.. :( You can't do a darn thing without sweating. I've been cleaning up and taking care of houseplants all morning in and out of the garage and I feel like I need another shower. Why is it that I look forward to summer??

Finally have a volunteer moonflower that has a bud. All the ones I started from seed didn't do squat, but here comes one unbidden in a place there weren't even any planted. Musta been a bird. :))

Ya'll stay cool.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Neener good to see you. ;)

LK that's a nice wreck up there! Glad you're ok.

I am late getting to sleep - have to go to work tomorrow (yay!) but the a/c in the car is out (booooo!). Glad I have to go early early to beat the heat. But still . . . Sorta like to keep the frizz down until later in the day, ya know?

Keep everybody's fingers crossed no rain because there's a slight leak in the seal around the driver's side window which we've been covering with a tarp till someone can tell me the best and least 'spensive way to fix it.

Happy happy happy. Pleasant dreams ladies.

Morning everyone!
Well, we finally got a rental car yesterday, it is a Nissan Altima, black. And there is no key to start it, you just put your foot on the brake, push a button, and off you go! When your parked, place foot on brake again, push button and it turns off. There is a little computer thing you have to carry with so it recognizes it is for that car on a key chain, but that is it.

yeal, those a real cool. I have driven a couple of those Nissans like that. Nice Cars!

Morning everyone! Debra, I love your gardens!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Dang Debra, I have tried and tried to get those purple double dats to grow and I just can't. I've bought seed, traded seed and tried everything and I can't get one to grow over 3 or 4 inches tall. You rock!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Debra, Did I spot a few Peacock Orchids in your second shot? Good growing on all counts.....you always have the most amazing blooms.

Our heat and humidity are awful, but not nearly as oppressive as it must be for ya'll in the Deep South and Mid-West. At least I can go out to water and weed.....early mornings...before I wilt and succumb to the A/C.

Great ideas Susie!

farmers called this afternoon, and told us the Acadia is totaled. More than $22,000.00 in damages. Now we wait for the claims adjuster to figure out the amount to send us...

our city broke a record high since 1965. I think I was in a pool all that summer back then. Thanks for noticing those peacock orchids, I have two huge clumps.
So, we went to a concert tonight. a small old city place called the cottillion ball room. in '69 i was dancing with other girls in contests at the battle of the bands every summer. I know it is silly to remember stuff like this.
At the concert, who I had nver heard of, but I wanted to be with Joe so I said yes. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
She sounded good, but half way into her song i decided to check ,my phone. 4 missed calls, 4 messages. I listened to the first from my youngest, All I heard was Sherry......Cancer....
I am barely holding it together and can't sleep. It is in her right lung and all this time she has been treated for pnuemonia, nothing working.
It is also now in her bones, her right hip, and her stomach. My sister said all she feels is the hard to breathe feeling. Her Brain is ok she said. Nothing they can do except chemo every week. She doesn't want me to go there until she really needs me. I spent two thirds of the evening out on the smoking patio just so I could talk on my cell phone. She thinks God is punishing her for stopping the church routine she was on. ( she had promised God if He got her thru the hard times, she would go to church. ) I told her God doesn't punish anyone. And that it isn't God making her sick, that a physical flaw is making her sick. She still thinks she is being punished. Not a bad bone in her angelic body, except the ones filled with Cancer. I just don't get it. I should be the one with Cancer. I smoke. She has never smoked. If they would have checked her blood back in Decemeber, they would have found it sooner. It really never went away. Her boobs did, tho. The Pet scan can't pick up single cells that flow thru the blood. it is in all her lymph nodes now. I feel so helpless. She has only herself and her daughter. She will lose her job. She plans on applying for state aid, now. She has three dogs she needs to find homes for. The list goes on..God Bless us all, with what ever time we have, to let each other know how much we love each other. I love you all in here, I am so sorry to unload.

(Judy) Simpsonville, SC(Zone 8a)

Debra, this must be so hard. So sorry about your sister's health, this is going to be such a hard time for you both. Sending prayers and thoughts of strength to get you through. (((hugs))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, so sorry to hear all this news! Please know we are sending lots of thoughts and prayers for both of you! Wish we were closer to help out! ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Deborah I am so sorry to here the news. A woman I worked with was treated for pneumonia for weeks and sadly figured out later it was cancer. So sad health worries and then worrying about your job. Has she applied for social security? My heart breaks for you all.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

OMGosh Debra, I'm so sorry. Reading your post made me remember when I first learned my sister had cancer. Such a helpless, scary& panicky feeling. I pray for each of you that you will find comfort in the love of God.

Where is Susan? I'm also praying she is well and happy and will come back to us soon.
Mandy!! we missed you!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

LK, I hope you get what you are hoping to get from the ins company. don't settle on anything without a lawyer.
Thank you for the comfort of letting me whine. now pass me the cheese. My sister will not give up. My youngest daughter accused me of giving up on her as I stated I have been down the cancer in the lung road three times past and those family members are now gone and not suffering. She is a fighter for sure. She feels strong the chemo once a week will get this taken care of and maybe buy her a few more years. Sadly, I do not believe this. I will find comfort in knowing she has more courage than me and anyone else that I know.trimming dried monardas, sweet coneflowers and all the prennials now. will have bags and bags of seeds, well maybe. so far I have just been dropping them where I want the new plants to come up.

Have just finished working at the patio's. All this work because of a beautiful Red Hibiscus. I love the plant, and I love what it inspired me to do.
Do hope you all have a blessed day.

OK, I'll try to do better and post everyday. Not a day goes by that I don't think about ALL of you! This has always been one of my fav threads.

The jury's still out about the handful of cuttings I took of our same Hibiscus. They're still nice and green and even have tiny new leaves but no roots yet. When I looked at plants in the Whiskey barrel this morning where she's planted, I thought the deer had been nipping buds, but instead found loads of seed pods on the ground and placed them in a paper bag to dry. Aren't Hibiscus one of the plants deer leave alone?

Our Pampas Grasses are starting to plume, an early sign of Fall.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Fall, a season I look forward to. 106 today. plants all seem to be okay as long as I water, but My tomatoe and squash blooms aren't giving any fruit.
I am already moving things inside. Have two brugs inside now. Both Y's with tiny buds. Now maybe they won't fall off. Having Son go ahead and start moving things inside incase I have to go to Arkansas for more than a couple days.here are this years living walls on my patio

Faye, that is so pretty, makes ya just want to walk up, help yourself to a glass of tea and sit for a bit!

Debra, your gardens are looking good too! I have had several buds on my brugs, but they get to about an inch long, and fall off. Guess it is too hot for them right now?

Does anyone know if there is a site I can go to for a free credit score. I found a site for a report, but it did not give me a score?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

go to experian.com, transunion.com or see if there is a freecreditscore.com or call your friendly car dealor and ask them to run one for you over the phone. they can. we do all the time.
too hot for brug buds to stay. Bonnie told me all hers are dropping too. I just brought another one in that is trying to bud, maybe if they are in a controlled temp they will perform for me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am sure the dealership will do it, I just wanted to know what it was, before we went. Experian, will do it for $1.00, but then your also automatically signed up for something like $15.00 per month.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I got a free credit score a couple years ago, can't remember where I got it online. Sorry. I know your insurance agent can pull your credit, ask them to do it for you. They did it for my daughter before she got her new used car last month. Then they also financed it a better rate. ( state Farm)

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I THINK YOUR BANK CAN GET IT FOR YOU .

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I will check with the insurance, and bank. Thanks for all the info!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Everything is dried up and hopefully going dormant and not dead here. I can't even hardly go out and look at the garden being on a well I can't water everything. 109 tomorrow and no end in site. I have never experienced this before.
We went out of town for a few days so I gathered up all potted plants and they are sitting in every bucket and kiddy's pool I could find and under the porch and under pine trees and they are going to stay there until we reach normal or winter comes...rofl
glad to see everyones beautiful pictures Deborah your gardens are beautiful sorry I know how to spell your name but this kindle doesn't .... Faye what a beautiful porch great place to sit and relax.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hi ladies, yes the patio is a great place for coffee, tea and chatting and everyone of you have an invitation to join me if you ever get the chance. I would love it. Debra you always have such pretty blooms. My Angels are hanging with buds and I sure hope they don't drop. The potted ones bloomed in April, May & June but weren't very pretty. Different potted ones are full of buds now and also those that came back (ground planted) are full of buds. If they don't drop, should see many blooming Angels next week.
Dear sweet Susan, I cannot ask you to do something that I don't do myself. Just don't stay away so long.
Hugs to all

If I wasn't watering, Joyce, I would have all burned up Gardens. I pay the water bill so I water. a LOT. still the plants feel hot at night. I spray the brick first to cool it off out front. I mist out front on the porch where the corner is crammed. I have umbrellas everywhere, aprons tied to bamboo sticks and I think an old flowered dress that is skin tight and too short for a 60 yr old. Don't know what those daughters of mine were thinking when they came home with it for me. LOL Joanna is waiting or me to start making flags out of her cartoon pillow cases next..
the yellow hibiscus is beautiful.
