I am in the process of building my first greenhouse using the metal frame of a gazebo. I just finished securing the frame on a foundation and Im getting ready to wrap it using 6mm polyethylene sheeting. While sitting in my backyard last night relaxing, it dawned on me that I have no idea how Im going to get into it (oops.) Does anyone have an ideas on how to install an adequate door onto my make-shift metal framed greenhouse, or what kind of door I should use? HELP
Installing a door on a metal gazebo greenhouse
I have used screen doors for this, as long as they have the sliding glass in them. They are also good for ventilization in hot weather.
you should be able to frame it in using some 2 x 4's.
You can also use one of the plain old wooden screen doors, just use your polyethylene sheeting to cover it. Also, if attaching a door is problematic, overlap your sheeting from both sides to create a "clean room" type door.....that way the sheets are attached at the top, but allow you to enter between them.
Thank you
We made a make-shift covered vege garden with deer netting over an old canvas garage frame.
For the door we just hung a loose piece of netting with a dowel sewed into the bottom.
It's worked fine for over two years now, sometimes you can just "fake it" with doors.
You could probably just leave one corner unattached and use the dowel idea to keep it straight.
They also sell zipper doors that you can install easily in plastic sheeting: http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/index.cfm?page=_productdetails&productid=1195&s=zipper&cid1=-99&cid2=-99&cid3=-99

Have you tried this? Looks like a good idea.
Yes, I've used it--at my old house I didn't have a real greenhouse, but I stapled plastic sheeting around the edges of my covered patio in the winter to make a makeshift greenhouse, and I did one of those zipper doors to give access from the patio to the backyard. Worked great!
The greenhouse zippers look really cool.
I added the link to my favorites.
That could come in handy in a lot of situations, it might even work with my birdnetted vege garden.
