now what? Bird's Nest Fern

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

It's always something in FL but this one has me stumped because it's been inside since Nov and doing fine until recently. The only thing that has changed is I started adding a small amount of liquid house plant fertilizer each week when I water, could this be fertilizer burn or something else?

i would say it was sunburn but since it's inside, i'd have to say the fertilizer. how much are you using?

could also be too much water. a misting is usually sufficient with a good soaking every month or so when they are indoors.

Curious, you don't have cats do you? Or anything that could carry hitchhikers in to the soil?

nope, no cats. I have moved them outside, no better...

When you say no better, is it getting worse or staying the same? The damage that's been done has been done and those parts of the leaves won't come back to life so I wouldn't expect those parts to ever look better. Anything you do at this point would just stop further damage from happening, it can't reverse what's already done.

I agree. As long as you haven't put it in direct sunlight after being inside, it shouldn't burn from that. But the leaves that were effected inside would be better removed down the track. Just check that new baby leaves are going to unfold from the heart of the plant. They are like tiny foetuses coming out of the brown hair like centre!
