2012 Sistah's Gathering at Betty's..Week of

Trouble in River City here folks and I might not be able to make the drive. Sitting here with a leaky face ....... long story short. Saw dentist on Tues for a lengthy apptment leaving me with 7 stitches and a plaster on my upper left side. Major pain, started to bleed early hours of the morning. Spent 2 hours 22 min in the dentist chair today to emerge with 10 stitches, lots of pain and strict orders from Doc - no chewing, soft foods only, meds for infection and pain, can't brush my teeth on that side of my mouth nor floss, water pic or use mouth wash . Doc drove me home with his wife following in their truck. I've told you before and I really mean this, he is a one of a kind as his his wife who is his assistant. Doc and I have spent so many hours together this last 24 months I keep saying it is a good think Emma is his asst or people would be saying Doc and I were having an affair.

***SIGH***WEEP*** I see Doc tomorrow morning at 10 am and will know then what's up. Not looking good that I will be able to make the drive but sure will be there in spirit. Wound is starting to bleed a wee bit again, sure hope I don't need more stitches. By the feel of it it is time for pain killers.

Hope you are all having a blast. Have a night cap for me!!! I'll call my sis Debbie on her cell tomorrow when I find out what is going on. You have no idea how disappointed and upset I am right now.

Oh Dianne, so sorry your in so much pain! Take care, and I pray it all heals up quickly!

((((((((((((Dianne)))))))))))) what a double hit - the pain you're in is obviously really bad and the bleeding........... AND looking like you won't be able to go to Betty's Gathering...... I hope things turn around for you and your Doc says "ok now!!" You're truly fortunate to have such a compassionate dental team hubby/wife!!
Take painkillers at need....and it sounds like that's often....all those stitches........

Going to be a hot one in my neck of the woods...better than rain I must say!!

It's a quiet morning, all sleeping, you know me I'm up at the crack of dawn..make fruit cocktail for breakfast, did a trip into Midland for Tim Horton Donuts, just on may way out to water the gardens and likely by the time I'm done some poor soul will be up!!

Dianne, you have no idea how sad I am that possibly you will not make it. Wiping a tear, so hoped that the drive here and hugs you would get would be possible. Still not giving up hope though!!! sending hugs

Do miss those who were not able to attend...Marion, we save the buttertarts for tonight!!!

Hoping it will be a fun day, when you live in a small community there is only sooo much you can see, not as thrilling as big city items, however, the companionship and sisterhood makes up for it!

Didn't know Debbie but I did think the guy was her husband as I have seen pictures of Judy's. Oh my Cookie, you and Judy are looking so good! Cried so much yesterday I knocked my computer off line. I am using Kims for now. LOL

Betty, tell everyone they have to eat a butter tart for me and that will just about make up how many I would consume. :-) I am not bashful where butter tarts are concerned.

Not Canada but will take a trip to Bainbridge GA this afternoon to help Kim deliver a cake she has ordered. Wait!!! I go to Bainbridge all the time.....bummer.

Back from the dentist and am going to lay down for a bit. Good news is I didn't need any more stitches today. Whew! Absolutely rotten news is I cannot make it to Betty's. I am so sorry I made you cry Betty, I have a leaky face as well.

Debbie I called your cell and left a message. Not sure the message will bounce around and get back to you - doesn't have a passport you know, so I will email you when I get off of here.

You all look so relaxed and happy - that sure put a smile on my face. Hope you all have a super duper time. Betty I hope you are getting time to enjoy yourself. Ah Debbie you got a taste of TO traffic!!! Good thing you are not out there today. Judy how did you and Steve enjoy Wasaga Beach? Don't know which way you are going back but if you can you should go to Ipperwash and Kettle Point to see the beaches there. Haven't been there for eons but loved walking waaaaay out and the water was still not at my waist.

Oh Crissy huge hugs to you. Dave sure is turning out to be an a*^! I am so sorry you have to go through so much to be free of him.

Barb how are things going for your son? I am sending positive thoughts his way.. How are you feeling ?

Marion - is Bainbridge anywhere close to St. Mary's? I remember going to Cumberland Island, just off the coast from St. Mary's GA.......... beautiful island, and such a clean coastline beach!!

Still no word from Colorado and I'm going crazy. They had a big neighborhood meeting with the city last night but we have had no word from them.
My dear Sean took a tumble at the ball field Wed night - no baseball now till next week. He is here with Grammy milking this for all it's worth and I love it!!!!

Oh you all don't know how BAD I wish I was with you!!!! This sucks I'm sooooo jealous!!!

Barb I have a friend in UT and she says it's on fire there too. I really hope you hear from them. This hot weather is really worrying me as the trees are starting to go dormant here, we've had 2 weeks with temps over 100* and the humidity is down to 25%. This is the same exact summer we started with last year and it lasted until it snowed in early November, and that was the only time we got a hard freeze.

oh Crissy - that sounds ominous! Weather all around the world is changing........ we don't normally get over 22c in the summer, but the past 2 years we've had 31c sometimes. That's hot. We haven't gotten to the hot part of our season yet - that happens in a week or so. We've just gotten past the rain......... tapering off a bit.

I finally got a mail from my son. Their house has been spared but the fire came as close to them as the house across the street - it is gone. They are so grief stricken over all the loss of their friends homes and the fatality as well. Their neighbors are inconsolable and now Tony and his family are feeling guilty that their house survived. So many emotions. They still don't know about their cat. And they still aren't allowed back yet. Tomorrow the city is busing them in to see the exterior of their homes but no clue as to when they may be able to return.

It is like a war zone out there. It is just so very very sad. I thank you all for your prayers and I ask you to continue to pray for those poor families. 347 houses burned to the ground.......

Susan, no Bainbridge is not near the coast at all....almost to the Georgia/Alabama state line.

Nope never been to Cumberland Island that I know of.

oh, you'd know it if you'd been..... only one way to get to the island, and that's by ferry (or your own boat!).
It's the longest natural coastal beach in the US. and is it ever clean! No vending machines, or restaurants, only 7 campsites allowed at a time, etc etc. It used to be owned by a Plantation Owner, who built a 2nd home for the daughter when she got married. Both homes are in ruins now, but you can see the wonderful carriage driveway (they had to be, and were, huge for the carriages to turn around during their large parties), and the Portcullus (sp?) is what I think the walkway was called - under an arch of concrete with vines growing over it, and benches to rest during your walk through it. Absolutely brought the "Old South" to mind. And those lovely Magnolia trees!
I would love to go back to visit it again........

We have had the most glorious weather, could not have ordered any better!!

I'm cooking breakfast so cannot update on much except everyone, even the men are enjoying the gathering..full day again today..at some point will have to post photo's

We all danced up a storm last night to the music of the 60 s. oooh something is sizzling on the stove

Susan, it is quite common for us to get summer colds here in the heat. Once a bug starts, it is hard to stop it!

It has been years since I have had a summer cold and I think going in and out in the weather last week contributed to it. Oh well, I will survive!

I know that "up here" we get summer colds cuz we put the a/c on so cold that stepping from one extreme to another does it everytime........!

evening,got the band playing in back yard re Canada Day, pit is ready for the Prayer Fire, the ride on the bay was beyond nice..perfect day..

we were looking for lindakay or/and Susan for skype to join us..will keep an eye out if you are on when the fire starts..about an hour..

Left Betty's this morning, arrived at our next destination safely! More later!
