Wow, Chantell! That PB shrub, wow, in a good way!! Mine's done well.
And lookie that, even CHantells camera phone takes awesome pics...

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I got one Chantell, I planted it down by the back of the barn, I have been planting a few things down there to hide and pretty up the compost and stroage area. It is doing very well. When I researched it they said it was a spreader so I thought it would work there. I wonder if mine will bloom this year?
My hardy Hib is blooming and here are a few more of my lilies and garden phlox that are just smelling up the yard.

peanut butter shrub?

Damascus, MD(Zone 7a)

Love pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Chantell, is the passion flower hardy in your garden? I have never tried this plant. It grows outside in England. I once saw a passion flower vine covering the entire wall with loads of fruit. The fruit looked like dark green lemons. Never knew what they would be like when ripe.

Holly, what is that lily in the 3rd picture? Is it fragrant?

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Devon - http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/772/ They do need sun though...

Donner - yes there are 2 passi's (I'm sure there are more) Maypop and Incense that I know to be hardy here...they are a thugish vine though - but I find well worth it.

Holly - wowzers...so pretty and the scent's probably just as yummy!!

Sally - :-) I do love my PB Shrub...

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Chantell -- do you grow your PB shrub in a pot? A lot of people say it is invasive. But I also see it is ok in part shade, so maybe we can grow it. Does it need a lot of watering?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Donner, I will try to find a name for it. Just put in last spring and yes it is fragrant.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

donner, I got passion vine about five years ago. Maypop, I think. The litle cutting survived very rough treatment and grew, The first year was amazing, The second year, I started seeing sprouts five feet from the mother. By the third year sprouts are coming up over ten feet away....

Chantell, what's your position on those passsion flower sprouts? Love the vine and just add them to the weeding list?

Oddly, my big vine last year is gone?!? Did I try to dig it out?? I tried to move it but in the nw location only see a very small sprout.
I have various sprouts I can try to share.

I do love how the bees dig in there.
"nom nom nom so yummy"

A great shot, Sally!!! Wow!!!

An invasive vine. Hmmmm...

Love fragrant lilies. I used to grow them when I lived in VA, but I cannot keep deer off my current garden :-(. Am thinking about getting more lilies and putting a sign of "This is not deer salad!" to see if that will work. LOL!!!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Sally - you GO girl...amazing shot...just LOOK at the eyes on that bumble!!!!

PB Shrub in ground...not sure how she'd do in a pot...

Re Passis - IMHO well worth the extra weeding...and very easy to ID and yank up the extras

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Chantell, you have changed my heart, I will embrace my 'passion' LOL

Pretty flowers Gita, Love that Epi. My Hardy Hib is blooming as well.
I agree about the Passi, I love mine, it came from Sally. I have them popping up everywhere ten ft away, too. But they are so easy to weed out that I don't mind at all.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Gita, I think there is a bloom coming on my Brazilian, too.

Crozet, VA

Just wanted to share my Hibiscus which look particularly lovely this morning. I have had the camera out for over a week waiting for a good time to take picture and many of these hot days has left the blooms wilting and not pretty enough to take a picture. We had some moisture last night, so they are very happy today.

Love seeing everyone's blooms! Gorgeous. I have seen many beautiful gardens out here in Oregon.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Just love all the hibiscus

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Gorgeous!
Gita, my Plume is startingto bloom too, and is on my deck table to enjoy.

Ruby, so glad you could gte out and enjoy those Hibiscus.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Ruby---

Your red Hibiscus looks like mine. Mine is perennial--been in this spot forever....Is yours?
So is the white one. They used to be planted together--but then I dug the white one away and now it has its own spot.

Re the Brazilian Plume---I find it amazing how much sturdier the plant looks and grows as it gets close to blooming.
The leaves are massive--and the stems fill out. I don't think I will cut it back this year. You all now have one....

You CAN just bring it in for the winter and keep it as a houseplant. it will continue growing....
Happy to hear that you all will get to see this beautiful bloom. When the blooms die off--pinch them off and more will come.
And don't forget---it likes a bit of shade--NOT sitting in full sun all day. Even though--I did not know that until last year.
And it still bloomed nice for me every year. Dappled, sporadic sun.

I just hope none of your Brugs are getting chewed up like mine. Holly--You got several How are they doing?
Pictures please! G.

Yes Gita, my Hibiscus are all perennials. These are the newest planted three years ago I believe. Sally, hahaha.....I sent John out to snap the photo. I could have taken it from the back deck I suppose, because I didn't want to get my footsies wet yesterday morning. I did go to the front deck yesterday morning and snapped some more photos which I will post after getting them downloaded.......added to say that I do own a Tropical Hibiscus that Sally gifted me with two years ago. It bloomed several times during the winter months but isn't doing anything bloom wise currently. Will have to do some research on when it is supposed to bloom. Will tell you that it was nice to see blooms on it in the winter time when nothing else much was in bloom.

I am now getting envious of those telliing me about the Brazilian Plume Flower getting ready to bloom. I need to go out and check and see what mine is doing. I haven't paid close attention to it, so hopefully mine is doing what you alls are. Will report back later.

We are having the same gray skies and lots of moisture in the air as we had yesterday. I am sure all the plants are happy for the relief from the temperatures and the beating sun. Here is hoping it is cooler for all this weekend and that everyone has some time to play in the dirt.

Aw heck.....lost the first photo....will try again.....first, this is where I sit and chat with you good folks. Second photo is taken indoors looking at my bay window and the few houseplants that indoors instead of spending the summer outdoors. Notice to the left a very happy African Violet from Donnerville which is currently in crazy bloom. Third pic of one end of a table under awning, for some houseplants. Fourth pic is other end of same table.

More......one end of screen porch, double of Banana Plant from Coleup and a Begonia from Ric and Holly. The fourth picture is one that I need an ID for. This plant just last week had lovely dainty purple flowers on the end of the stems, but they have faded before I was able to take a picture. Have had this lovely for two years and not known what it was or who it came from. Any ideas?

First picture is unknown plant but beside it is the result of some Zinnia seed from Jill and Joyanna. One yellow bloom as of yesterday. The second picture is of Bloody Dock from Ric and Holly and added to say the hit of all my visitors this season. Everyone just loves the look of this stuff. I too love it and have really enjoyed having it. Huge pot of Elephant Ear from Coleup and two un-named Coleus.

Other end of table under awning. Livingstone Daisy from Buttoneer and the same with bloom on other side of pot. Number four is a pot of Prickly Pear and lastly is a pot of Caladiums.

That is it for now folks. Hope you enjoyed and have a great day all.

Ruby---

WOWSA!!! You have a few plants!!!! Must take you forever to water them all.

The Livingston Daisy----we had them at HD last summer! I remember looking at them and wondering
what they were. Very pretty! Looks like a succulent? May be easy to root in that case.
Still have time before the swap.....

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Very pretty porch Ruby!! Everything looks very healthy.

Enjoying the drizzly day here- EXCEPT that its wreaking havoc with yard sale plans. Still, I sold ten dollars of stuff between showers. One neighbor did a great job organizing and making a map to show anyone which all homes 'planned' to sell stuff. The last visitor was a nice gal who was delighted to pay a dollar for a large goldfish bowl, esp after I threw in a goldfish and food. We're trying to offload a ten gallon tank setup that had three goldfish.

I feel like yardsaling is at least half just a favor to your community, giving people the chance for cheap thrills.

I had about ten small plants out. The plants are what caused the last gal to stop, and notice the goldfish bowl and two pair boys swim trunks.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Good going Sally, I keep thinking about doing a Yard Sale but it never does seem to materialize. Josh's town has a yearly yard sale and the last 2 years I wanted to take things down and couldn't make the date. A neighbor organized one in our little neighborhood but we were way that week I never did find out how it went.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

The rain still comes down. The one day of the whole summer I had not wanted it! Funny.
Grand total 17 dollars- for accumulating and walking around a pile of crap for a month, to save it for the chance to make a few bucks, and now box most of it and take to charity. The highlight- selling a large glass tank and screen to two boys who want to get lizards. That was one item a real pain to carry to charity, or to ship if offered on ebay. COulda/shoulda tried craigslist...but we still have the ten gallon setup to try there.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Oh Sally, Not quite what you had in mind and with the weather acting up you probably didn't even have fun. I have been trying to decide what to do with my extra water plants. I just have water hyacinths and water lettuce, a pot of Water Willow and 2 small Illustris. So do I put them out front with a sale sign or a free sign? Do you think anyone would want water hyacinths and water lettuce now?

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Its hard to say. Do you get much traffic pass by?
I sold a four inch pot of Rosemary for $2 and two small pots of rooted jade plant cuttings a buck each. I had four pots of snake plant 'moonshine', which I saw at DJ Liquidators for $6--but no takers. Still. traffic was so very light.

The rosemary lady said she was looking for fall color.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Hmmm.... So what color does rosemary get in the fall...heehee

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

No we don't get much traffic. Usually I put extra plants out for free and they do disappear.
