I found a horrible horrible weed in my garden. After much searching on the internet I've identified it as German Madwort, Asperugo procumben. It had grown out of control and gotten large enough that it was flowering. When I was pulling it out, it seemed to be shallow rooted however it was hard to get the root to come out because the stems kept breaking. I was sort of rolling up the massive ball of weeds, and pulling the roots out as best I could.
What I really want to know is how this weed reproduces because now I want to go back and hoe up everything I missed as I was weeding, but if it will root off any broken part of the plant I would just be making my problem worse. I don't want to spray it because it is very close to my compost pile, and veggie garden. Any words of wisdom?
How can I kill German Madwort, Clingweed, Asperugo procumben
Try pouring boiling water on those stubborn roots. A smothering method might work if you don't mind the waiting.
