Acer campestre carnival - crispy dried up leaves

I had a healthy new tree last spring/summer with healthy leaves. This springtime the tree started off with hopeful green leaves but have on the whole shrivelled into crispy brown dead ones. It is in a fairly sunny spot but of course we have had a lot of torrential rain recently. What should I do to revive it?
