I purchased a Tibouchina from a local nursery and I have it in a pot on my front porch, which gets sun from the south. It had been doing quite well until my rambunctious boxer knocked it off the porch. Now, all the leaves are gone from the middle of the bush. Leaves and buds are still on the ends off all the branches, but with it being bare in the middle, it looks very leggy and awkward. I had planned to trim it way back once the blooms were done, and before I bring it in for the winter. If I trim it back into the areas where the leaves are missing, will they regrow or do I run the risk of killing it (or having it always be bald in the middle)? Thanks for any help or advice. :)
Tibouchina lost leaves in middle
you can trim it back now but you will lose flowers for this summer. mine is in ground but i trim it almost to ground every early spring and you can too. they do tend to get leggy otherwise.
