This is what I found on the tomato I just put in a pot yesterday. When I looked at it tonight, I found no leaves and a half eaten tomato. Could it have come from the dirt since I had tomatoes in the same pot last year? Thanks for your help.

winter moths drop from trees, and can float quite far on threads, i think.
a soon to be dead one i hope.
ps. you never want to plant a tomato in the same soil as a previous one. always clean the pot thoroughly and put fresh soil in, otherwise you are leaving yourself wide open for disease and possible over-wintering pests as well.
