I just bought one and it seems they are mostly used for outdoor planting.

Can you keep Persian Shield as a houseplant?
Yes absolutely! It has been around a long time as a houseplant before it became popular as a "throw away" annual in
pots.
Enjoy,
D
Gorgeous plant that has become rare in my neck of the woods.
Works fine indoors, although it seems to take awhile to get established in a pot. As I recall, it's related to coleus, so can be a bit stubborn about lighting. Likes bright window light and be carefull about chills and excessive dry spells. Colors up spectacularly if you can hit it with at least 1000 lumens per foot.
