I live in zone 6 (northeastern PA) & need a ground cover for a slop that gets full sun. I want something that I can plant & forget about it & something that will choke out everything else.
I would like something nice looking as this slope runs along the entire front of my house.
I was thinking of planting Walkers Low Catmint. Does anyone have knowledge of this plant? Will this work well for what I'm trying to do?
If not, any other ideas would be great!
Thanks for any help, I'm new to your site & am glad I found it, lots of info & I've only just begun to snoop around:)
need help with ground cover choice
Welcome cannon25--I to am new and yes they are a lively bunch and a friendly bunch. I love it already! I'm sure someone will stop by and answer your question in a bit--Nice to meet ya!
Welcome to DG. Here is a link with a variety of ground covers, most of them hardy in your area and all relatively low/no maintenance.

Thank you for the reply. Does anyone have knowledge of the Walker's Low Catmint?
I think this will be perfect for what I need, but it's going to be ALOT of work to get the job done & I don't want to make the mistake of planting the wrong ground cover.
I'm not sure if you've checked it already, but looking at the PlantFIles for it, it seems like the Walker's Low Catmint could be right for you: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/37051/
The only problem I see is getting the Catmint established. It will require regular water (average water needs) until established and then is fairly drought tolerant. Also, it will not reseed and it is deer and rabbit resistant.
Here is a bit of info for you.
