Another beginners question .Are there certain varieties of beans specific to growing on a pole or bush ,or is it up to my discretion as to how they will be grown /
Pole Beans bush beans
Yes some varieties are pole and some are bush and you can make one behave like the other. There are also half runner beans that are somewhere between.
Most of the time, packages will note if its a pole or bush bean. Sometimes, you might find one thats labeled "bush" but will have an added note that it benefits from additional support.
Half-runners are a type that can go either way. I often give them a "mini" fence to climb. About 2 feet high.
