Still more swapping going on I see. I just absolutely love it. Sallyg, no problem with supplying you with some of the green colored Coleus. I have it growing in several pots and the supply I have had do well all winter is ready to be pruned again. If they do for you, what they have done for me, you will have some rather tall and bushy Coleus. I had very good success over wintering them also. They never lost any of the color or died back to any extent like some Coleus tend to do.
Happy, I have a Mondara story. I purchased some of it from a mail order nursery. I must have ordered quite a bit of it because in at least four or five locations in my front yard, I had Jacob Cline Monarda tags. For several years I could never get it to live. The company replaced it a time or two. About three years ago, in one of my back beds, I watched what I believed to be a weed begin to get some size to it. It started out as one plant. Three years later, from that one stand of Monarda, we have sold several pots of it, and started other large pots of it and still have two good sized stands of it. I did not plant the Monarda in the back yard and can only figure that a visiting bird was responsible for the one plant in the back bed. I suppose the moral of the story is to keep at it if at first you don't succeed.
Ric has a garden cart to help transport plants from vehicles?.....that is good to know. I was trying to talk John in to packing our wagon, but he says no, that he would handle them. Ric, if it is okay, I will have him hunt you up when we arrive. Can't wait to see the work to your place since we all last visited.
See you folks soon.

Swapping & Chatting Ric & Holly's Swap The Last Week
Holly, please add my dp Wayne to the attende list. He and I will be striking out in our van early Sat am as soon as we both finish our respective paper routes. May fall in and tail Sallyg and Catbird and then Gita and arrive en mass! Wayne used to erect greenhouses locally so I am sure he will have ?s for Ric. He's an 'old hippie' that loves strawberries and cantalope and old cars.
Ruby made a a good point about looking forward to all of our chatting post swap. It is my hope that all of the activity and interest generated by the four swaps so far this year will see the Mid Atlantic Forum be an active forum even when there isn't swapping to plan for in those inbetween swap lulls. Either that or have more swaps more often! Of course that leaves out those unable to attend from all the chat and info and excitement. (I well remember how 'left out' I felt the past two years as a non-swapper and how lonely this forum can get without regular posters) Sigh
Anyhow, anyone having requested elephant ears from me, please be advised that due to lack of the warm temperatures they require and love, they are looking more dormant than in full blown glory! Just sayin'

Sounds like Wayne will fit right in with our group.
We have a garden cart and a couple of wheel barrows to transport plants and whatever. We will be setting up in the back and there is a lane you can drive back to drop off your things and then take the cars back out front to park. We have plenty of room to spread out.
Thanks Holly. Wayne is good folks but I wish he could (or would) cook like Ric does! Both of us are full of ideas and great at assembling materials for our projects but neither of us are strong in the project completion phase. Hoping your place will inspire us to get a few more projects done but I am sure it will also give us lots of new ideas to begin. Ain't life grand?!!
Gita, you are probably just home from work now and loading your car for the preswap at Sally's first thing tomorrow morning. Here is my offer if you believe that this time I will actually make it to the swap in person:
Wayne and I will bring your chair, umbrella and several boxes of plants (extras you love to give out? or?) in our van to Hollys on Sat for you if you will give them to me tomorrow morning at Sallys. I know from past feedback that people love the plants you so kindly share...so bring them on...and enjoy some breathing room in your "small subaru outback"!
Judy
Judy!
I got home from work around 3PM. Too tired to do anything in the garden. I can't wait for this week to be over!!!
I want my patio back! I want all the tables cleared! I want time to attend to planting my annuals.....
I did plant my mandevilla in the bigger pot--where it always grows tonight. One thing "checked off".....
Actually--I just loaded up the plants in my car. (8PM). Did not want to do it earlier--as it was too hot.
You are too sweet!!! I am planing to just bring a chair--unless there is rain forcast. I have 2 patio Umbrellas
with stands. If I remember last Swap at Holly's--there is not too much shade anywhere.
They have this nice gazebo--but that only accommodates about 6-8 people.
Last time i DID bring my umbrella and stand--but seldi=om sat under it, I am the "flitting" butterfly....
Honestly--there will be NO room in my car for anything else. This Pre-Swap will really help....
I think I will be OK! So she says before packing things in her car....and freakinf out!!!
Maybe I will bring along Holly's huge pot of the stump of the old Dr. Seuss. That may help....
It is in a 5gal pot. No signs of growth yet--but then it just got root-pruned and re-potted.
This trunk is about 2+" across. OK! I will let you bring that, and my chair in your car. Thanks!!!
I am SOOOOO tired! I can hardly keep my eyes open. Have to stay awake long enough to see the semi-finals of
"Dancing with the Stars"....That goes until 10PM. I may give up--but I DO want to see who wins.
See you tomorrow around 9:30AM. I plan to leave around 8:45AM. Just in case there is too much traffic....
I am SOOOOOOOOO happy, Judy, that you will finally make the Swap! No one has met you!!!
I did show your picture around, the one of you and Robin, from a few years ago plant swap.
That is when you brought me the big pot of Bleeding hearts. It is now a BIG bush!
There area lot of baby B.H.'s coming up around my big one. I have dug some up.
I plan to save a lot of seeds from it this year. How many years does it take, from seed, before you
have a presentable, blooming B.H.???
OK! See you tomorrow! Gita
Holly, can you include links to the beginning page of the chatting & swapping thread so I can go back & forth to keep checking it? Thanks, Judy.
Just potting some "Soulmate Butterfly Weed" which is a pretty pink color and is just coming out of my winter sow pots.

We'll be so happy to meet her!
Roses, I'd love an Asclepias incarnata, please. Got one or two sprouts here, determined to get a good stand of them going for the butterflies! Do you still have a Salvia patens available? If so, I'd like to try it. It looks like some of my cuttings of Jasmine stephansis (hardy for me) are rooting, if barely, so I've got your name on a pot.
Gotcha covered with the Asclepias Incarnata. I'll probably have a decent sized Salvia Patens for you too.
Diane, if you have some left, I would appreciate some of your Sweet Autumn Clematis. Thanks! Teri
Thanks, Roses-Teri! (Fair warning, Sweet Autumn is a total thug.)
Have added the following to my haves list:
-Oregano-Thyme Mint
-Pinapple Mint
Do any of you honesuckle lovers have Lonicera periclymenum 'Belgica', Lonicera periclymenum (woodbine) or Lonicera caprifolium (Italian woodbine by chance

Chantell - May I haves some Oregano-Thyme Mint? Thanks
The seeds that I sowed and had marked and offered as Candy Mountain Foxglove, that after some growth became evident as not foxgloves, but possibly Penstemons, are now identified. And the winner is.....Snapdragon 'Night and Day'! Photo below from Parkseed, the source of the seeds. Have some to share and I promise the ID won't change.
WOW those are GORGEOUS!!!
Ohhhhh....pretty...any fragrance and would the hummers like it do you think?
David - got you down for the mint

love those snaps!!
oh Michele is bringing 2 sweet autumn clematis.. after she realized it would be too big .. and she didn't like the flowers.. took me a long time to convince her .. she won't like it
Jen, We will be very pleased to have your daughter. I have a lot of toys.
Coleup thanks for posting those links for me.
Critter, I need a thug to compete with the wild growth in the area next to where I would plant it. (Sweet Autumn)
I would love some sweet autumn if there is some available, Allison
Would love to meet your dear daughter, Jen
Clematis virginiana, an Eastern U.S. native is almost identical to and often confused with Clematis terniflora (Sweet Autumn Clematis) but is nowhere as agressive/invasive. You can get the same look and not rue your acquisition 2 or 3 years down the road.
I will make a tag for Michele Jan
Tanx!!

Do you have some to share or a reliable source to recommend for this native?
I thought that mine was the native but just went out to check and all the leaves have round edges rather than the mostly toothed that C.virginiana would have. Alas, even though I am happy with what this asian escapee does in my yard the rueing may be on the part of my neighbors and wild places round here.
If anyone has the native vine and could cultivate it for a future swap I for one would be willing to replace what I have. Anyone? I told Sallyg and Gita yesterday morning when we preswapped our plants (wonderful, wonderful) that by volume and number of species growing in my yard, "invasives" out number 3 to 1! Id like to shift that balance.
Judy
Coleup, I just potted up 3 of them (C. virginiata), and there's at least one more volunteer in the front bed that I can dig. They don't have great roots (hard to get them out of that densely planted bed!), so I trimmed them back a bit, but I think they'll be fine. I know there was one other request for it (will check my list), but I should have one for you also.
If the Clematis virginiana is fragrant I too would be interested.
Not wafting than, eh Jill? :-(
If you have room for it to spread the fragrance is AMAZING
Can't wait for that thug to try to crowd out the stuff that's trying to crossover the line to my new perennial/bush garden.
Roses, it does spread seeds around also, and it can be problematic as an invasive that way (something I didn't know when I put mine in)... I pulled my main one out a couple years ago and am still finding volunteers every so often. Just something to be aware of... you can probably chop it back once it's done blooming to "deadhead" it without doing it any harm... if you do that this fall and it doesn't come back in spring, I'll save a baby one for you!
Jen - are you ref to the SAC's scent or the native David ref to?
I really need a thug to beautify the horrible fringes of the wild tree line at the end of the property.
Happy, I received 4 Double Pink KnockOut Rose bushes from Stark Brothers today. They are small by soooo healthy looking for such a great price. Thanks for the heads up on this sale!!
Thugs definitely have their place... just wanted you to have more info than I did when I put mine in LOL. Morning glories can "compete" pretty well, also.
The 'Sweet Autumn' clem does have a nice fragrance, especially when it's huge like that, definitely wafting... but not so much on the native that I've noticed...
Yes the SAC I was talking about
