Does anyone know what is wrong? these leaves just came out and started getting brown on the tips.

Some background info on the tree would help.
Where is it planted? in the ground or in a container?
How is it watered? How often and how long?
Newly planted or established?
How much sun does it get?

The tree is in the ground, in the shade of other large trees and is watered by irrigation system. It has been in this location several years.

If the tree is well established, receives enough water, protected from hot sun, I would guess verticillium wilt.

It could be other things though.
Excessive wind could dry them out.
Have you checked to make sure the irrigation is putting out enough water? Is the emitter/sprayer blocked?
