I have never grown Butternut squash before. Is it a vining plant? How much room does it need and how many squash do you get from one plant?
Butternut squash question
With the exception of Burpee's Butterbush, butternuts are vine type squash.
Nono,
It will be too late to be useful to you for this year, but I'm growing the Burpee Butterbush. I will reort on how it does for me. I've read that it still takes up a fair amount of space.

I have grown Butterbush. Plant size is about the same as standard zucchini. A plant will produce 5-6 small ( 1.5 -2 lb) squash.
I usually grow butternuts every year because they store well in my root cellar. They vine all over the place but I love it!
