I am jealous we need some too, have been spoiled by the nice rains this spring.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

HOORAY!! I know you guys have needed it!!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Really, four inches? We got like 3/4 of an inch. Which, absolutely, woohoo! But gosh, I swear, we've just gotten brushed by every storm this year...

I girdled this tallow tree three years ago, but left the snag up for the animals. It just fell out of the ground last night. Knocked off one fence pale, but otherwise threaded itself between all the new trees, and didn't even yank the passionflower vine out of the ground.

We got rain last night it started about 11, not sure when it ended. It was wet enough to dig some more holes (which my kids did) but a little too wet to work in. Tomorrow should be perfect. Tues its supposed to be 10* cooler. The rain wasn't even predicted it seemed to come out of no where.

Y'all need to blow a little harder to get it across the Brazos. We got clouds all morning, stiff wet breeze but couldn't seem to get enough together for any rain. We have been dry since March 22.

We're supposed to have a chance for rain on Monday or Tuesday, but the more exciting thing is the cooler temps! They're only supposed to be in the 70s (you read that correctly!!) for the next several days. Woohoo!!

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Congratulations on the rain.. we have some chances for rain in the next two days but I will believe it when I see it. Not holding my breath. I too will enjoy the next few days of cooler temps though... nice to hear about muddy ground!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

It can rain all it wants between now and Saturday......but not then.....we are having a wedding in the backyard and all those folks just won't fit in the house!! But before then would green up everything!

Here's my DH putting lights in the trees for it.

Checked our rain gauge this morning and we got 1.5" just south of Austin and a little east of I-35... Storm rolled threw around 2 am. and was still raining around 9 am. We may get some more rain Tuesday night and again Fri. night & Sat. morning... We could use it since April was so dry...

Central Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

It was nice. It even sprinkled a bit last night while I was driving. I don't believe we got 4" here though.

Dallas, TX

I think I am being punished ... We need rain so bad. I really dread the hot summer months my ground is dry already. :(

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Rain 60 miles to the north.. 90 west and 100 south east.. nothing here. Crossing my fingers! They say 30% chance for tomorrow.... I hope it 30%'s here about 100% of the day!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Not much here tonight but a great light show.

Central Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

We got about 1.5".

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I am soooo happy I can hardly stand it! Got about 2/10th of an inch of rain.... about 20 gallons or so in the rain barrel and everything is wet and smelling so fresh.... crossing my fingers for more tomorrow. I can't wait to see what a difference it makes in the plants everywhere in the next few days.

East Texas, TX

yay for everyone who got rain and especially you Tammie! I know you desperately need it. We got 1/2 inch...that is the first rain for us in over a month. Every drop is so appreciated.

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

The rain came in last nite and it hasnt stopped! It sure came in with a bang, yesterday evening. We unplugged the computer and the TV. I started soaking some bean seeds, but now Im not sure if Ill be able to get in the garden to plant them!

Rained here in W. Houston last night but not sure how much. Of course, we had some furniture outside under the covered patio since we're putting a new floor in the house. But my hubby put it inside before it got too wet! I'm not complaining--we also need it badly. Great for all that got the 4"!! And I'm LOVING the cooler weather! Janet

Bryan, TX

Mostly wind here in Wixon Valley . Blew my China Berry tree over (I know, trash tree - but it made good shade for about 50 years :(

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

We have added another 1/2 inch and it's still sprinkling. Everything looks so fresh and green....and the trees are just loving this. All my plants prefer rain water to anything else.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

morganc, you must live pretty close to me - we got about the same amount of rain and it's been pretty steady most of the day. All my rain buckets are full to over-flowing so I'm happy. Glad I got the dirt and plants into my new front bed! Now if I can just keep the deer/squirrels from eating them...

BUda, TX(Zone 8b)

Got about 1/4" overnight and another 5/8" to 3/4" this morning and afternoon... Nice slow soaking, just what we've needed. Watermelons are lovin' it!!!!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

careyana - we are near Driftwood.....where are you?

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm in the Arboretum. I guess not that close! lol We had torrential downpours last night. I was reading our area got the 50-60mph gusts last night.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I am so happy for you folks in central and south Texas. It's been so dry for so long!

We've gotten squat this go 'round. I'm thankful for the clouds and cooler temps, tho.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

So sorry to hear about your tree! Anything that provides shade is NOT a junk tree, especially if you love it. My neighbot cut down 4 huge pine trees in the front yard last year, they were on the edge of the property line... I was so happy to see them go that I gave her $200 to help pay for it... they were a mess in my yard but I sure do miss the shade they provided.

Well, my rain total is 3/10th of an inch and it filled my rain barrel ... complete happy dance. I took about 12 gallons out of the rain barrel this morning into some buckets in the garage just in case we got something today... no luck. Strange thing about the standing water in the streets... it is white foamy as if dish washing soap or bubble bath were in the water. Every time a car goes through a puddle anywhere in town it forms a pile of white foam. It must be from all the pollution that has built up from no rain for so long. It really has been a long time since it has rained. I have never seen it do this before. It is not just some places... it is everywhere we drove today.

I am definitely enjoying the cooler temps.... actually wearing a sweatshirt right now. burrrr... LOL big difference from the 100+ temps we had last week.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Well, I asked for it and got it! It has been raining off and on all night long. My rain gage has 1 3/4 inches in it so far and more on the way. The streets are very flooded. I drive a Chrysler 300... definitely NOT made for driving in anything over 1" of water and was at my parents when it started raining... I usually watch TV with mom until about 3am anyway. We spent a lot of time filling buckets with water, moving full ones into the garage etc. (messed up my back really bad lifting a 5 gallon one she had on TOP of her rain barrel!) I had to wake dad up to drive me home at 4:30 am because there was no way my car would make it to my house. I live in the middle of a triangle of 3 major drainage roads. Dad drives a big Expedition so it has no trouble getting through the streets to my house. I have a van I can drive until the roads are clear. One road to my house is such a river I once had the water go over the hood of my van.. that really scared me! Sooo happy to have the water everywhere.... I even got out with a cloth and used rainwater to wash the windows, glass of the front door and outdoor furniture while it was raining. I was already wet from running in the house soooo, why not! I was so happy to see rain! Having fun! Middle of the night and I love the night anyway. I was just dipping the cloth in the inch of water on the ground at my feet to rinse it... EVERYTHING was flooded around the house... LOL It was so easy. Unfortunately, none of this wonderful rain is going where we really need it... into the lakes that provide us our city water. We are absolutely desperate to get water into that area. I would give anything if this storm system was filling those lakes!

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Tammie that is great news!!! Glad y'all got some rain too.

San Marcos, TX(Zone 8b)

It looks like you are getting even more rain and now it is falling on Lake JB Thomas.

BUda, TX(Zone 8b)

Had enough of a lull in the rain this morn to move the tomato & pepper buckets into the shop before they get drowned. We've had 2 good, heavy storms roll through already and about 3/4" so far, but mostly moderate and steady...

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Lovely lovely rain here.

Our neighborhood has a bunch of trees and big limbs down from the wind other night. Mostly ones that were killed or severely stressed from the drought last year, so were going to come down eventually. Probably just as well to get it over with so we can get on with planting new ones. They're all so light and dried out that there doesn't seem to be anyone with significant damage.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Have had 1-1/2" so far today and there is another storm headed this way. Yahoo!! We haven't had significant rain here in over a month so this greatly appreciated. My plants are loving it.

It is so wonderful hearing about all the rain. No more for us but I am still overly excited. The rains tuesday and wednesday night/thursday brought more rain than we have had in the past 12 months total. It was so amazing to see water running everywhere... everything looks so different because the dirt has been washed off everything. It has remained overcast, humid and cool... simply wonderful. I have been basking in the joy of humidity. Odessa has been transformed in my eyes. I know it won't last long so I am going to soak it all in as quickly as I can. I drove around a little today to see how things are changing... little bits of green showing up in some yards that have been baked brown, weeds springing up EVERYWHERE! LOL I am even happy to see weed at this point. It has been so bad even the weeds are struggling to survive.

Congratulations TEXAS! Enjoy the rain!

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

It started at three an tiday here -
the nice soft soaking rain that is
best ... twas so nice to fall asleep
listening to it

and then it continued on and off
all day so right now it is thundering
in the distance and lightening,
and the mofkingbird who owns the
prooerty is singing his heart out

BUda, TX(Zone 8b)

After the sunny afternoon yesterday made sure rain gauge was empty. Checked this morning another 3 1/4" from the storms last night...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

We only got a bit overnight, but this evening, the heavens opened up and dropped 3/4" of rain on us.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok, did anyone else spray for bugs or fungus or whatever right before the rain, like me? Grrrr. But I'm not complaining--we need the rain :) My cantaloupe is beginning with the little white furry spots though. Guess I'll spray again when I get home. Using Actinovate for the first time. We'll see.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

My parents had the exterminator at their house the day of the storms.. he sprayed the outside of the house and yard.. lot of good that did with 3 1/2 inches of rain just 8 hours later! The water came all the way up the the walls of the house everywhere.. I am sure it washed away everything that was sprayed...Mom was so upset. They were scheduled for my house also but I had changed it to monday ... lucky me! that would have been a waste of $150 for me.

Rancho Santa Rita, TX(Zone 8a)

Tammie
you think there might be a connection
between spraying and that white
foamy detertent-looking stuff ?

Glad yall got the rainfall tho
