I am a new grandmother and my daughter in law wants to make her own baby food. She does not have a planting area so needs to plant in containers. Can anyone tell me the best vegtables for containers and tips on planting in them?
Container Vegtables for Baby Food
There are a number of veges you can plant in containers. But you will need large containers in full sun. I'd say the best veges are going to be the ones babies like. Maybe carrots, squash, even some peas. Here in California we use half wine barrels for our larger container plants, maybe there is some equivalent to that in your area. There are some good vegetable gardening books out there, "Square Foot Gardening" would be appropriate for container gardening and would give you ideas on what kind of soil mix to use and how close you can plant individual plants. You might even be able to find it at your local library.
