We just bought a house and we do not want to bring with us our Mealy Bugs...Blah. Anyway, we have gone through and got rid of most of our plants were we can see Mealy Bugs. Would we be safe to take cuttings from these plants, inspect them thoroughly, hit them with an organic pesticide, and try rooting them or are we asking for trouble? My first post ever, hope I am not too wordy or not detailed enough!!
Help I have MEALY BUGS!!!
I wouldn't throw out plants because they have mealy bugs. If the infestation's not too bad, I'd try try a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean them off. You'll have to keep your eye out for a while to make sure you get any new ones that you missed, but they're not that hard to control if you stay on top of things. There are also insecticides that will kill them--they'll list on the label whether or not they take care of mealybugs.
